We were impressed by this small hotel in Nes, a quaint village founded by whaling seamen, but now a tourist resort (without high-rise buildings!), on the Dutch North Sea island of Ameland.
Admittedly our room was on the small side but is was very clean, comfortable and well-appointed with high quality goodies.
The youthful staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient.
We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant and the quality was perfect.
The breakfast was also good and nicely served, but the choice was a little limited, as is the norm in the Netherlands.
The bus service to and from the harbour stops right in front of the hotel.
Ameland boasts extremely wide beaches and is very popular with Dutch and German tourists.
It is only a 45-minutes ferry ride to the mainland.

Excellent choice

The Pros: Outside the main season Nes is a lovely little town on Ameland and Zee van Tijd is smack in the middle. This boutique hotel is still quite new and the staff, while not always professional, is friendly and relaxed. The beds are comfortable. The breakfast is made of fresh produce and served at the table - which some people like, whilst others would prefer a buffet-style breakfast. 
The Cons: The hotel website borders on false advertising, especially with the imposturous naming of small and simple hotel rooms "suites" and with an overly generous inflation of the square meter information. The rooms feel narrow and crammed, there is no desk at which one could sit, the chairs are low, there is little storage space and especially barely a place where one can hang clothes. Bathrooms are mostly integrated into the room. The biggest problem, however, are the warm temperatures (no air conditioning) and the street and ambient noise: Both were already elevated in April, one does not want to imagine what it's like in high season.

Pros and Cons

A nice and cosy little design Hotel and restaurant downstairs. A very nice place to stay while touring Ameland or to stay after mudflat Walking. Helpful staff and in the middle of tiny little town Nes. 

A bikerental shop and many restaurants nearby. A little walk (or a busride) to the beach and the harbour for a ferry to mainland (to Holwert)

Idyllic beach holiday

This was a very short visit with friends to the UNESCO World Heritage island of Ameland on the coast of Friesland. A beautiful little hotel, very friendly and well-equipped. The rooms are very modern and comfortable, and the breakfast and dinner were casual but beautifully prepared and attractively served. Everyone was very friendly, and of course they all speak perfect English. Nes is a little town with many of the houses built in the 1700's; apparently it gets quite crowded with Dutch families in the summer. Out on the polder the bird life was remarkable. Well with a visit.

Big welcome in tiny hotel

We stay here for first night, we are unlucky that there have some poor neighbour next to us.  They back at mid night and keep talking and screaming at corridor.  And around 6a.m. the truck is start collect the rubbish, the glass bottles of beer making a sound.  We totally cant have a good sleep for whole night

Compare for other hotel that we stayed for second night.  Zee van Tijd is over priced
But the location and breakfast is superb
