This hotel is just awful. I've been in many low budget hotels in Asia and Africa and this is even worse than what I've seen there. All beds look like someone crashed through them a couple of times already. The bathroom was filthy with a lot of mold on the showerfloor. The owner put a small carpet on top of it to hide it from plain sight but that didn't really help. The water was overflowing from the shower as the drain was clogged and the whole bathroom smelled like mold. The towels were too small to properly dry myself. 

The complex looks like it was bought by someone that thought he could use it as a cashcow and doesn't want to spend a dime to improve or fix things. It's totally run down.

Nastiest hotel I've ever been in

Our room at the High Top was lovely, if a little small, with balcony and afternoon sunshine pouring in. One comment - the bathroom towels were very small! Helpful staff and an OK breakfast... But some of the public areas are looking a little tired. Maybe they'll be next for an update? All in all, though (with free off-road parking) we'd certainly return another year.

Refurbishment shows!

This is another of these hotels that were decorated in the 1970s, and then left to rot. The carpets are dark red and green/grey - but the green/grey is merely where the Sun has faded the carpet.  How long does it take, for a carpet to lose its colour? The owner spends all his money visiting Florida, and nothing has been spent on this hotel in 40 years. Which is a shame, because it is a nice location.  It really needs thicker walls too, because there is a lot of noise from the neighbors.

Gently decaying

Hotel easy to find with Tom Tom.  Somewhat dated 3 storey hotel at the top of the hill but more than made up for by the excellent location.  Only a short 20 min drive towards Lisse for the Keukenhof gardens.  For the flower fields try the N206 as well as the N208.  For the N206 drive down towards the beach and follow the road out past the lighthouse.

Not much in the town itself apart from a number of restaurants on the beach front.  The steak in the Mexican was very good.  Not a place for shopping.

Really friendly helpful english speaking staff.  Breakfast included in the price and open until 10.00a m.  Relaxed checkout time - 11.00am.     

Free parking.

Only real complaint is on the size of the towels of all things. No normal size bathroom towels which was a pain - lots of unusual towel combinations to cover up.   

Beds ok but rather soft.

Otherwise no complaints and an enjoyable short stay.

Excellent location for the flower fields and beautiful sunset on the nearby beach

Whilst the decor of the Hightop hotel is a bit dated it is comfortable and clean and proved a good base for our group stay for several days last week. We stayed in a triple room with a balcony (sliding doors to balcony were only means of ventilation) which was clean and beds were comfy. Ensure bathroom was fine although shower was a bit patchy, probably due to number of people staying there and water pressure - it went from warm to cold and back fairly frequently. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Continental self-service breakfast as you'd expect. Small bar area which closed at 11pm. Only short walk to the shops and seafront.
