we stayed here 3 nights during xmas. It is like 5-10mins walk to the village and to the port. I think the hotel is family run because it has that feeling. Breakfast buffet is simple but great! Room is very clean, cozy and comfortable with a patio overlooking a garden making us dont feel like going out. I think vlieland is very peaceful- nature lover will absolutely love it, with the sandy beach and walking/hiking trails. And we looked like the only foreign tourists in town.

Great stay! Great walking or hiking trails

The rooms are not super sized but everything you need is there. The bathroom is fantastic, a bath, a separate shower AND the amenities are from Rituals, fantastic. The rooms are not cleaned every day, as the manager explained that many guests stay a few nights only. As we stayed a week, we were advised to place the towels for renewal outside the door and half way our stay the bedsheets were changed. On request we could have had clean sheets more ofter. This system sounds a bit strange but it worked out perfect.
The hotel is located 5 minutes walking from the little town and 15 minutes walking from the beach. 
The breakfast is very dutch, so it is all cold and but sufficient. It would make me happy to have also a choice of warm food there. Especially when the weather is not that great it is nice to have a warm start. There is a coffee-tea bar in the reception area where you can also get sodas. wine (and a good quality), chips, soup (Cup a Soup) and cookies. You just keep your own list of what you take and during check-out you pay for it. Very guest friendly

Clean, quiet and perfect location

Reception was friendly, the room sqeaky clean, cosy with quirky details, great beds, comfy chairs and a great shower. There was also a little patio, but it was a bit too early in the season for that. Breakfast was presented in a very original manner, with a wide variety and plenty of evrything. At very reasonable prices various drinks and snacks can be got in the lobby < great arrangement. Staff very friendly and location absolutely fine.

Nice and different

We enjoyed a couple of days late April. Nice place, good staff and good rooms, well equiped. Despite corona, well organized and good breakfast to be consumed at the room.
Do not expect luxury or a lot of service like a bar, it is more a hostel. However, with the right expectation you will enjoy your stay!
Vlielands nature starts directly form the hotel entrance and it great! The village is still at walking distance, so restaurants etc. basicly around the corner.

No nonsens place

When first walking up to the hotel we weren't quite sure what to make of it, but once inside the reception was very warm and welcoming, the room well laid out with everything you need in it, including two comfy chairs (which you don't always find anymore) in a very nice colour scheme, kept up through most of the hotel - as far as we could see. There was a little outside seating arrangement at the back of the room, the shower was brilliant, the breakfast varied and more than sufficient, as somebody mentioned "very dutch", yes, but then again: that might be expected when visiting Holland :-) The cleaning and linen arrangement is indeed different from other places (and explained upon arrival !), but it suited us fine and all you had to do is ask to have things changed, really not that difficult, and the staff was very pleasant and obliging.

A nice quiet break

The room is OK. Spacious and big bathroom with tub. Small balcony. Beds too soft. Shower not much more than a dribble. Friendly staff. Breakfast is below par though. Feels like a youth hostel. Nice, quiet location though.

We have stayed there for 2 nights. The room was clean and normal size. We had a room downstairs which has the advantage that you can use the space behind the hotel as a large garden.
The most positive point of the hotel were the very kind workers in the hotel.

Nice place with very kindly people

We stayed at Doniastate in january 2012 for a weekend at the lowest season on the island of Vlieland. The room was tidy and the breakfast fair. People are friendly (when around). The hotel lacks any other facilities if you don't count the coffee machine and magazines in the hall. The hotel could best be descibed as a bed and breakfast and is located at te center of the island. At walking distance you can find nice restaurants to spend your evening and the island's nature is possibly the best reason to come back!
