Outstanding staying, best from our trip, in genuine castle tower. Real medieval castle, wall , towers, moat and inner yard, all of this lovely keeping. In the tower - bedroom and kitchenette/hall room, view from narrow windows at a moat as at old time sedge. Great museum in main castle building, excellent breakfast delivery at morning, welcome friendly staff - for history funs - as I am - worth to stay!

Medieval experience

This Castle is well preserved and restored. The original owners played an important role in the 80 year war (1568-1648) the Dutch fought against the Spaniards. Furniture and paintings are well worth the visit and so are the gardens and smaller buildings (a.o. the "Mint").

Such a special castle to stay in. We had one of the two tower rooms and the interior was modern and super clean and comfortable. The design was very nice. The atmosphere on the grounds was authentic and beautiful. We had a wonderful time and can highly recommend staying here. I will definitely return.

An incrediable experience

Sleeping in the tower of a real castle was a once in a lifetime experience for us. The entire visit couldn't have gone better. Without saying, the castle itself is beautiful and was a trip back in history. The room we stayed in had two levels, a comfortable bed and a modern bathroom were on the lower level. Living room type quarters were on the upper level which is reached by a winding brick staircase. A huge and complete typically Dutch breakfast is brought in the morning by a kind Dutch lady. We took the short walk into town for dinner. We were lucky as the beautiful Catholic Church, which is located a few steps from the castle, was starting Mass as we were walking by. We were welcomed in and participated in the service which was said in Dutch.  Unlocking the centuries old metal gate and heavy wooden door upon our return in the evening is something we won't forget. 
The entire staff at the castle couldn't have been kinder and helpful.  We can find only positives for this visit, we wish we could have spent two nights!

The best experience

We booked this believing we were staying in the Palace -- actually we stayed in a gate house on the Palace grounds but not in the castle itself.  That said, the setting is unique in that after the tourists left the castle and the staff went home from the restaurant, we had the place ourselves.  The bedroom is good although the bed was a bit soft.  In addition to the bedroom and bathroom on one floor, there is another floor with a table for the excellent breakfast that is brought to you in the morning and a couch for reading.  Dinner is not offered on property but we walked into town and had a very nice time at one of the restaurants which were pretty close.  The high point of our stay was walking around the castle on the trail -- the palace itself is beautiful, especially from the backside which can only be viewed from the trail.  I would recommend this place to couples looking for a romantic spot for a night's stay.

It's beautifula nd unusual (but a bit misleading)

A glorious way to spend your holidays indeed. The castle has so much to offer and the tower rooms take you centuries back in time. So wonderful for kid as well. Breakfast is so yummy and served in the room by very kind staff. Highly recommended by both us and our daughter!

Glorious

We stayed one night in the round tower and other night in the square tower. I vote for the round tower (a bit higher price, but worth it). The whole tower is just for you & your company. Modest furniture in the bedroom (on the first level), but a nice lounge & dining room (on the second level), but the experience of staying in a real and old tower that belongs to a castle is overwhelming! Coming through a big drawbridge and two gates to get in the yard where the towers are, then having a drawbridge next to us, a dungeon in the basement and the views from our rooms at the big castle and the moat around the property made us feeling like in a fairy-tale!  My soon is three – and he enjoyed it very much. He kept pointing at everything and saying: “You see this is magic… and this is magic too!” He couldn’t wait for the castle to get open for the visit; he wanted to go exploring everything straight away!
The, a tasty and generous breakfast served in the dining room, how nice! 
The minus of staying there – it was cold, cold inside (in the mid-September) even though it was warm outside (around 20 C mid-day)! Twince bed - and not comfortable (too soft). 
Two nights was just right for us – for we started getting bored. TV reception was bad (who is fan of TV), no DVD player, no music… For me it was a bit spooky in the night – we got and impression that we were only persons on that big property after the dark (?!). If you stay there with a small child – keep in mind that the steps inside the towers are very steep, so take good slippers for them. 
Must see: inside the castle. Must try: food in The Grand café in the village (just cc 200 m down the road). It was a surprise for us to taste such fantastic food there!
