very rude front desk service by the older lady with white hair and tan skin. 

the stairs were very long and narrow, and i needed help with my luggage so I called for help. the older woman came out looking very angry and yelled at me, falsely accusing me of being rude. The irony was that she was the one who was disrespectful. I explained to her that I was merely calling for someone to be able to hear me, because the front desk was so high up from the ground floor. She did not bother to hear me out - instead, insisted on her theory that I was a rude millennial. 

Despite already having a booking, she demanded that I either apologise (for something I did not do) to be served or go elsewhere. She had no empathy for a young solo traveler like myself, whose sole mistake was to think I could get basic help of carrying luggage at this place.

Considering that this is a two-star hotel, I didn't expect this level of room cleanness and the availability of shampoo, soap, shower cap, etc. In addition, there is a private shower in the room which is very practical. The shared bathroom was also clean. 

The front-desk lady was extremely kind and helpful, she arranged for my bike to be stored in the shop downstairs for the night. 

The breakfast was very very good with freshly brewed coffee and plenty of choice.  

The rooms can get hot in the supper and the fan doesn't really help.

Very clean Room and welcoming front-desk

i had heavy luggage to bring up the stairs and when i called for help, the front-desk lady (she looked around her mid-60s) claimed i was 'shouting' and thus being rude and told me to leave. i patiently explained that no one in sight was available to help so i projected my voice so someone could hear me. she still refused to help. then when i said i had already paid she DEMANDED an apology since i was supposedly being 'rude'. not only did i have to say sorry once BUT i had to say it THREE times for her to agree to help - i.e to do her job! 

i was appalled when she had the NERVE to tell me to leave and also wait there for three 'sorry's to feel i deserved help. 

this was not my first time in Den Haag and it was extremely disappointing to be treated with the utmost disrespect on my visit back. 

just because this was a budget hotel does NOT mean budget treatment and behavior are ok.

appalling front-desk service

Very good value for money hotel close to the centre of Den Haag. Friendly owner and clean rooms. Nice breakfast. I stayed with my daughter and enjoyed our stay. Rooms are large enough for 3 people. I even had an iron and iron board to iron my shirts. Couldn’t complain of anything. Would definitely recommend it.

Great little hotel in a very nice area of Den Haag

When we stayed at Staten hotel I spoke to a female guest who's been returning to this place for 25 years. And here's why:

The hotel is right at the end of the "Fred" - the famous shopping Street Frederik Hendriklaan in the Statenquartier of The Hague. The rooms are spacious and clean. Right after our stay all carpets were to be renewed. The owner is a lovely lady, very kind and helpful. Breakfast is worth getting up for. Fried eggs with bacon, cereals, fresh food will give you the boost to tackle the sights of The Hague or (in our case) overcome a hangover. Public transport is 200m from the hotel (line 16 to city centre) as are pubs or little restaurants. Getting to the beach takes  10', and after a 40' walk you're at the Mauritshuis. We highly recommend the place and are looking forward to coming back again. 

Cozy little hotel - home away from home!

There's nothing flashy about this place. Basic, clean, WiFi and a good breakfast, and great price, so who can complain. The charm is the neighbourhood, a residential and commercial mix, bakeries, shoe stores and blues bars. Within walking distance of a museum or two, a streetcar ride to the beach or downtown.

Immerse yourself in a Dutch neighbourhood

We stayed here as part of a cycling holiday. The hotel is accessed via a very steep staircase and the entrance is not immediately apparent in between separate shop doorways and windows.
The hotel was clean, but the facilities were basic and more akin to what you would expect at a B & B rather than a 'hotel'. 
One of the rooms we were allocated was on the upper floor and, so far as we could tell, was only accessible via a single staircase. Elsewhere, alternative escape routes seemed to be via vertical Jacobs-style ladders, which could not be used by anyone who is disabled, frail - or even scared of heights!
The breakfast was ok, but very basic and nothing cooked was available or offered.
Overall, this hotel represented poor VFM and was disappointing.
