Great affordable place with enough to live comfortably! 6 minutes to Lichtenvoorde Jumbo for groceries. The extras for towels etc is strange to me as they supply sheets,pillows cutlery and everything else a house wood have except towels. You can bring your own to save the 30$ but may leave with wet towels. Found the place damp but didn’t help that it rained everyday we were there. We kept the heat low for sleeping but maybe should have turned up to take out moisture. Only supply one toilet paper and no paper towels. No coffee filters either so could bring those as well. Bring small container of dish soap and that could double for bathroom soap for hands. Maybe dishwasher tabs if you don’t like hand washing. Expensive to rent bowling alley $25 Euro/hour. Should rent bikes for less $10euro/day=$75Can/Day is to much for my wallet. Swimming was good for kids. Off season so wasn’t too many people. Close to many areas with things to do! Would go again! 

Family of 5 comfortable 

I'll start with the good point.  The chalet is warm and spacious enough for 4 people and the kitchen is well stocked with enough dishes for 5 people.

And the bad points:

Be warned that there are hidden costs everywhere.  Another 108Euro (yes 108) was added onto our bill immediately for SERVICE COST (Compulsory).  Another 30Euros added for towels (again Compulsory).  Another 3Euro per day added on for WIFI - don't bother because there is no signal/reception for it (but at least it wasn't compulsory).  Plus Tourist Tax per person per night (again, Compulsory).  This makes for a very expensive 4 day break.  Make sure you arrive on time or you get charged even more Euros.

Back to those compulsory and expensive SERVICE cost... Why?  What was I paying for?  There were sheets on the bed fair enough but they aren't changed by staff (as they would be if you paid that amount in a hotel).  YOU are expected to clean the chalet yourself (unless of course you want to be charged an extra up to 100Euro once you leave - they hold you to ransom with your bank account number) however they do not provide cleaning fluid, cleaning cloths or tea towels.  The tea towels you can rent for the compulsory 7.50Euro per person along with bath towels (which again are not cleaned or changed by staff during your stay as they would in a hotel costing this amount of money).

Don't bother with the WIFI - we paid the 3Euro per day and ended up with no reception or signal.  Waste of even more money.

There is no curtain on the bathroom window so your neighbours will see you in your full glory unless you shower or toilet in the dark.  I was surprised the window wasn't illuminated with a glowing red light.

This is a campsite that has not been fully built yet.  There are NO facilities.  There is NO bike hire so if you want those cleaning fluids to avoid those extra charges you have to drive some miles to get to a supermarket.  No facilities yet still an extortionate price to charge.  I'd hate to see the prices once it is fully up to speed.

Lichtenvoorde.... dead as a doornail (except a weekend in July and a weekend in September).  We were only there to visit family.  There are no views, nothing historical of note nearby, nada.  It might be okay for a leisurely bike ride around the woods but like I said before there is no bike hire on this site and it's in the middle of nowhere.  This is not a tourist area so keep on going east into Germany which is nearby.

Check out - make sure you clean the chalet.  Tell them if you break anything.  Well do that if you can find any staff.  I didn't see anyone the entire time we were there with the exception of check in.  There is nowhere to deposit the key.  

Make sure you leave on time or you will no doubt be charged even more Euros (not sure if this is true seeing as there was no member of staff to check what time we left).

Overall, disappointing.  We have family in the town and have to come back to visit again another time but we will not be using this place again.
