The hotel is okay to stay for 1 or 2 nights. The location is great, town center is in walking distance and the central station is across the street. The hotel is noticeable getting older, the bar was missing some wooden planks and that is just not a representable sight. Breakfast was simple but good, the restaurant could use some cleaning. Tables were sticky and lots of dust on decoration and counters. Rooms were fine, lots of space even in the bathroom, and beds are great. We had a room at the end of the corridor and you could not stand up in de shower because of the roof. Room was in the shade so the temperature was okay. 

Average hotel 

So we checked into the Royal York hotel, my wife and and then my kids decided they wanted to join us, the front desk service was accommodating patient nothing short of spectacular also we were switching our rooms to larger room as my wife likes to travel with a lot of luggage way too much as a result we called guest services moved us to a larger room his name was Jeff was he ever patient when we realize that room wasn’t big enough we had to move back to the original room I called the front desk no problem sir will get you a larger room to satisfy your needs well AAA to front desk and guest Service moving us around and all luggage, big thanks once again to Jeff at guest services I think his name is Jeff Paul not sure of his last name WOW this guy was incredible.
Thank you Royal York hotel we will return again next year for Christmas

Christmas holiday trip

Booked and checked in late and was met by a really nice efficient guy who met us at the car park door. We had been pre checked us in so was a case of being given key and shown to room.
The hotel building is obviously a few years old but the cleanliness is super, bathroom facilities great (very nice powerful shower) and the bed super comfy.
Breakfast was continental and food was very good, eggs were not ready but within minutes were hand delivered in a nice little egg basket around the restaurant.
Would not hesitate to stay here again

Overnight Stay

I've spent one night in May when, I suppose, the hotel start the season only. I've noticed one more client only in whole hotel. The room was quite regular, but some of lights was not lighting, the bathroom had automatic ventilator which working noise I could hear in room. Internet was perfect - I think because nobody else have used it. 
Parking place comfortable, under the roof, I had no problem to find the place but I can't say what is during heigh season.
Breakfast vert average. Price for room very OK.

Before season.

We stayed, as small group, in the Hotel York for two nights. The hotel is clean, quiet and pleasant, but what makes it special are the staff, who are outstanding. Winschoten is well of the beaten track for visitors and therefore few British people stay. Nonetheless, the staff tried very hard to make us welcome, and we enjoyed our stay very much. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable, dinner is excellent and breakfast very filling in the Dutch manner. Thank you very much.
