The Faber hotel is a 32 rooms family hotel well located in Zaandvoort. Rooms are big and comfortable (great bed). Moreover the hotel and particularly the rooms are super clean and maintained.
Despite those great points we were surprised by how noisy the hotel is. There was a huge lack of soundproofing in our room which led to hear speeding cars, barking dogs, seagulls (a lot) and other customers of the hotel all night long.
On top of that, only stripe curtains are installed on the window. The darkest configuration of the room allows you to read a book easily from 5:30AM. Because of that noise and light, my partner and I weren’t able to sleep after 5:20AM on both nights. Finally, beyond noise, the absence of double glazing leads the windows to warm up the room quickly and strongly. Added to synthetic material duvet, those temperature make us sweat a lot which worsened our already tough nights.
Common areas are outdated and make the hotel look like a 1960’s hunting lodge (stuffed boar heads and deer’s skulls hanging on the wall) or a weird paintings museum. Depending on your shape, you might want to know that it is a 3 floored hotel without an elevator but with very steep and narrow stairs. 
Coffee and croissants are some disgusting industrial products but fresh orange juice is pretty good.
The evening host is extremely cold but we finally appreciated the owners accepted to cancel and reimburse our 2 remaining nights without cancelation fee which was a great gesture of goodwill.

Unexplainable ratings

This was mine and my husband's second visit to hotel faber, this time with our 17 year old daughter for my husband's 50th birthday.
There is no friendlier hotel anywhere than this. Every guest wishes you good morning, the staff chat and give you a genuine smile. 
The hotel is immaculate throughout and breakfast is amazing, fresh cooked and cold meats, sausages and eggs, breads, cereals, fruits, yoghurts and juices and pastries.
A simple request by email arranged balloons and champagne for breakfast on his birthday.
Zandvoort is simply beautiful, you have to visit to get it. Its a lovely haven and the weather and beach facilities are out of this world. 
We will return again and again to this perfect hotel in a perfect place. Thank you for having us Hotel Faber. See you again soon.

50th birthday 

We stayed at this hotel from 14 to 17 of April 2019. The main purpose of our visit was rest and visiting popular sights. The hotel is located on a quiet street with restaurants and cafes within walking distance of the ocean. The staff met us very friendly and helpful. We stayed in two rooms on the 2nd floor. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel serves a delicious breakfast and in the evening there was a possibility of visiting the lobby bar and watching matches. We arrived by car, so its was very important for us to providing  us a parking space. Half an hour by car from the hotel is located the most famous park Kaukenhof, which was our main goal. We was really enjoyed our stay.

Very pleasant place

A lovely quiet hotel. Dont be fooled by its exterior. Its a real escape with beautifully clean rooms and balconies and the breakfast is to die for. You wont need an early lunch thats for sure. Its half an hour to Amsterdam on the train and the hotel is only 5 mins walk from the station. We bought an Amsterdam travel pass for 3 days that covers all buses trains and trams between amsterdam and zandvoort. So it doesnt cost any extra. Its lovely to escape the chaos of the dam and stroll along the sea front or sit in the beach bar. There are 2 coffee shops too so all the things you want from Amsterdam in a beautiful laid back peaceful setting. And we were the only English people there. In the 10 years we have been going to Amsterdam this is the most lovely of the hotels we have stayed in and the only one we want to go back to again and again

Annual anniversary trip to Amsterdam 

This hotel reminds me of an home for the elderly. Stairlift, smell, decor, staffing, they all smack of a place you  go to die. Single beds pushed together in a cramped room, no tea making facilities. Dismissive staff that simply didn’t care.. Steep  stairs with limited head room in places on the way to your room. 
When approached a male member of staff answered a question about the level of noise coming from the bar thus “ at twelve o’clock it will stop and then it will be ok” this was at 10.30 and our cramped room was reverberating like a bass box. It was so bad we had to go out to the Princess Hotel where it was far more civilised The noise continue after 12.30 but on a less obvious level
Agreed they did knock 20€ of off the bill but this didn’t compensate for ruining a 500€ weekend

Not nice

Good location, close to station & only 15mins from Zandvoort circuit.
Plus a good selection of food at breakfast. 
Very comfortable beds in a clean & tidy room.
Plus the town and the beach clubs contrast with what you expect from a typical British beach resort.
