Ultra Clean lodge, laid out well, bedroom clean and coffee etc in room   Clean bed’s great wee shower, but of a scary drive up hill but all part of the adventure.  Awesome shared kitchen and dining area out front of lodge surrounded by native bush land, wood pigeon everywhere

Words cannot describe how amazing and perfect Mt Vernon Lodge was to celebrate our special day. We planned our entire wedding from Australia and had never been to Mt Vernon or seen the property before. David & Amanda were fantastic and very helpful with any of my questions and really made everything super easy.

If you are planning your wedding here, I definitely suggest you book two days or more we stayed for four nights. It was such a wonderful way to spend time and connect with all of our family & friends before & after the wedding and really made the wedding day itself very relaxed as we didn’t need to rush around trying to catch up to everyone.

The function area is very large, clean, and well equipped with everything you need. There is also a lovely outside area.  They also have great games for everyone to play after the ceremony and a great outdoor area in front of the lodge for drinks and canapes after the ceremony.

All of our friends and family commented on how great their rooms were, super comfy beds, all were very modern and clean. The lodge area was a great meeting place for everyone, and we had a BBQ for all our family and friends the following day. This area had plenty of fridge space and a very well stocked kitchen you could cater for a lot of people. Also a beauty firepit for everyone to sit and talk on a cold night.

I cannot thank you both enough for such an amazing day and helping us to create such beautiful memories with friends & family.

Wedding 2nd December 2022

Fantastic place to stay - very reasonable price and absolutely beautiful. We stayed for 2 nights in a chalet which was really warm, had all the kitchen amenities we needed and was super-clean and tidy. The hosts were great, and the view from the balcony was fabulous. We had a great sleep on the super king bed, and we'll definitely be back! Very highly recommended.

Stunning!

Wasn't sure what to expect but couldn't have imagined anything better! Stunning setting nestled amongst bush with beautiful views over the harbour. Very restful and not a bad walk down to tbe township. Our room was clean and well appointed room with own deck. Definitely be going back.

Absolutely Perfect 

We had our final night in Akaroa at Mt Vernon Lodge after finishing the Banks track. It was the perfect location to end the trip. The cabin was perfect - stunning grounds, large rooms and balcony, great kitchen and good BBQ. The cabin was spacious and spotless. Mt Vernon is at the base of the trails so an ideal place if you are into walking. The grounds are stunning. The owners are lovely people and obviously have a lot of pride in the lodge. Best spot in Akaroa

Perfect place to end up after the Banks walk

Been more than 20 years since we first stayed here. At that time the lodge was superb for our (limited) budget. Mt Vernon upgraded since then - now it is tourist quality with multiple options. Great wedding venue. We stayed in Harbourview unit which was v private and totally self contained. Sonia & Dave welcoming hosts. Thanks 

Magical spot, excellent accommodation 

We stayed in the harbour view unit and it was exactly what you see in the pictures. A real fabulous view from your own private deck with your own bbq. We chose to have most of our meals there because we were the only ones staying in the whole place being a Sunday and Monday night so why not enjoy the birdsong and view as much as we could. Managers were away but a lovely lady was there to meet us. My only requests would be outdoor cushions for the wooden chairs and some type of shade over part of the deck for those who aren't sun lovers. We also just got in in time for the end of the winter getaway deal so great value for money

A stay with a view and tranquility

My wife surprised me with a night away in Akaroa for my birthday and what a fantatsic place this is. Although a distance from the township this is a great place to relax and be surrounded by bush and birds. The accommodation is a great standard and well miantained. We would recommend this to anyone who wants to relax in an amazing environment

Hidden Gem

Spent a few night in Maison Cottage. It was warm, quaint and is bigger than it looks in the published pics. 

Had all the usual items for a hotel room, tea / coffee station with French press, fridge, bathrobes, etc. Fittings were good quality and decor was tasteful. Electric heater kept it warm, along with a faux fireplace for ambience.

Bathroom was compact but nice. Good water pressure.

Unit was very clean and had great view across the valley. Neighbouring units were quite a distance away and privacy was good.

Note the access road to the lodge is steep, driving is fine but walking down to town and back is quite an exercise. The lodge is on the Purple Peak track, there are great views from the top.

Owners were friendly and accomodating.

Nice location & quiet

We have just had the most wonderful 3 days at Mt Vernon Lodge as we celebrated our son’s wedding. The venue worked so well as we used the different levels for each part of the ceremony. 
David and his dedicated team made the stay outstanding, with extra touches in everything that they did. 
I recommend this venue as it truely lived up to all our expectations.
