I was disappointed with our stay. The hostel is dirty and needs a deep clean. Bathrooms full of hairs. Bedroom linen was dirty. Travellers sleeping in the communal areas. Security poor with door left open at night. Not the standard expected for a BBH hostel.

Dirty tired hostel

Bon accord desperately needs an upgrade! It's tired and worn and reminds me of an old flat that hosts all the teenage parties. Grubby and dare I say scungy. It's not somewhere I would choose to stay again, with one great exception, the staff! The couple currently managing the backpackers are wonderful! They are kind, personable and do a good job to keep the place as clean as possible. They are the only highlight of the place.

Lovely staff, tired facility

We stayed one night in Akaroa couple of weeks ago. I forgot my diary at the hostel, and I was really sad, because I have wrote down all my memories from New Zealand in it. 
Luckily the staff was so kind and sent it back to me on my address in Auckland - for no cost! I have never experienced such good service before - even on hotels. 
Also the hostel was nice and cozy and we really enjoyed our stay. If we ever come back, I want to spend my time at Bon Accord.

Sweetest staff

Pleasantly surprised by our stay at this backpackers. We had a double room and the place was generally clean, great location and  suited our needs for one nite stay.  Great location of being right in the Main Street and the Bach cafe wasn’t too noisy despite being right next door and had life music.  The shower bath could do with a bit of a scrub but happy to recommend and stay again.

Easter Sunday stay

I enjoyed my stay at Bon Accord. the staff was very friendly and it felt like I was staying at a friends home. The shared family room and outside area was very cozy and the kitchen was well equipped for my needs.
