What a great wee place to chill out.
Everything so clean and tidy. Shower was awesome. Warm muffin on arrival was a lovely touch. Animals to feed, doggy run fenced to let fur babies loose. Play ground for children .Highly recommend this spot.Only 5km from turn off at Havelock on the main road good signage.

Awesome 

This is an exceptionally good campsite. The little touches like a welcome muffin and bag of animal feed really made it feel like they cared about you enjoying your stay. You can do a short walk from the campsite and the views over the fields are stunning. Comfortable warm cabins, WiFi worked well and great location as only a short drive from the start of Queen Charlotte track. The girl on reception was very friendly and made me feel really welcome. I'd recommend this place for sure.

Fantastic stop

A nice spot with the wonderful feature of a mile walk up to a small forested canyon with plenty of glow worms. We also had a good view of a bush tailed opossum. A quiet location. A nice kitchen. Plenty of shade. There are farm animals: a goat, two sheep and two pigs.

Small holiday park with really clean facilities and friendly. Waterfall walk at night is a must! Handy to sea kayaking place and also close to Anakiwa where you can start/end the Queen Charlotte walk. Stayed in a cabin with wife and 2 kids. Really great that the facilities were so close. Could probably do with more sinks in the kitchen and more showers as there can be a wait during busy times. Mostly families and trampers staying here.

Great for families

Lovely, peaceful spot and great facilities. I was given a very nice warm muffin on arrival and food to feed the sheep, goat and pigs. There is also a very friendly hen wandering around. Very clean and the staff, Chris and Barbara are lovely to deal with. Barbara deduced that I was a gardener and brought me over a vase of flowers from her garden - a wonderful gesture and very much appreciated. I have very much enjoyed my stay and met very pleasant travellers from the US, France and Germany. Thank you, Chris and Barbara for a wonderful start to my trip.

 Wonderful start to my trip

Absolutely wonderful place!! We arrived at the end of our last day on the Queen Charlotte Track, absolutely done after a 27km walk. We were welcomed with warm muffins and very helpful Barb. Our self-contained unit was very warm & comfortable and looked over the farmyard towards the hills & the bay. Our hosts even dropped us back to the jetty the next day, after letting us make us of the communal area after check-out. I couldn’t recommend them more.

Beautiful place, best value ever!

I’d have rated more if I could. This place is a gem! Absolutely fabulous for children of all ages, the waterfall, glow worms, queen Charlotte Track is around the corner! The cabins and facilities are so well looked after - it was spotless. Very clean. The hosts are lovely, so hospitable and kind and generous. We even got warm muffins on arrival, they go the extra mile. They totally left us to it, provided food for us to feed the farm animals, the Kune Kune were such a hit with the kids, and the cows, the sheep and the goats to feed! So much to do. It’s a really special place, such good value for money, lovely little campground. We all had such a nice time, not to be missed if you’re traveling with kids!!!! But also really enjoyable without kids too of course ❤️

Mediocre farm stay
 
We were disappointed with our stay at Smith’s. We had heard great things about it from many people and it has a lot of great reviews.

We just didn’t see what was so good about it.

We travelled a long way to get there and had high expectations for it to be special and lovely.
 
The hostess was most welcoming and friendly. She presented a basket of fresh muffins on arrival. She was always helpful with our questions and queries. 

Our family motel room needed some love. There was mould on the curtains, the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work and the smoke alarm went off so many times even after changing the battery that I removed it.
 
It would be nice to include a clothes horse and a complimentary small box of milk for these room types.
 
The farm animals were overweight and looked like they needed a bit of love with the clippers.
 
The playground was very old and comprised of two swings and a trampoline that had a broken zip.
 
The walk up to the waterfalls was our highlight. Lovely track and great view of the waterfall at the top.
 
We wont return.

Mediocre farm stay

Great base for visiting the Sounds. Kids enjoyed feeding the animals and running around the open green spaces. Delicious muffins on arrival. Went above and beyond in helping our large group get to and from our water taxi at Anakiwa. Amazingly helpful and hospitable.

Superbly hospitable

Our little self contained unit/batch had everything we needed. 
And YES, you can be this isolated and still have internet. 
The views of the sounds from the road were amazing but windy. With recent slips please allow another 10 minutes to what Google maps suggest.
