Highly recommend staying here, easy parking, fantastic communication, very clean+++  the cleanest room we have stayed in to be honest. We stayed downstairs in room 2 with full kitchen and excellent bathroom. 
No fault of motel - We did find it hard getting sleep when we had a tournament team above us running, bouncing balls and jumping round at 11pm. Apart from that our stay was great and close to everything. They were welcoming and accommodating when we needed to offload some gear a bit earlier. Thank you so much! 

Excellent service ♥️

A real pleasure finding a motel totally suitable for wheelchairs!!  Very roomy, access to both sides of the bed, a great bathroom and even a lowered bench kitchen.  Staff were lovely.  The people who parked in the disabled parks weren't appreciated. I suggested that they put wheelchair signs in front of the parks which would be more visible than just the painted on sign on the ground (especially in the dark) but somehow don't think it would have made much of a difference to some people.  Found the ramp into the room too steep but mentioned a solution to the lady on the counter and she was going to sort it.  As she said, if you aren't in a wheelchair, you don't know, unless someone tells you.  Thanks and will stay again. 

Great motel to stay in in Ashburton

Stayed two nights.  Room was very clean, bed comfortable layout of the unit was perfect and very spacious.  Would definitely book again next time coming back to Ashburton. Highly recommend booking to stay here if you are in Ashburton for a night or two.

Great place to stay

Clean, tidy, easy to find, easy to book, helpful staff. Friendly and accessible.
This was exactly what we needed after a long drive and an early start the next day.  Corporate rates offered were much appreciated.  I highly recommend this accommodation and look forward to staying again.  Service of this caliber is rare these days, it was so refreshing to deal with "real" decent people.

Perfect!

We really enjoyed our stay at Tinwald Motels.  The motel room was clean and warm. Furnishings were nice, and new. The meals at the pub were really delicious.  We would definitely stay there again. One of the nicer motels we have stayed at.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst in Ashburton for a swim meet and it was great!  Lots of room to chill out.  Reception staff was lovely and very accommodating.  We didn't arrive until late but it wasn't a problem.  Would def stay here again.

Spacious!

The Tinwald is in a complex of a restaurant, pub and liquor store, all owned and operated by the same people.  The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the staff at all of the facilities were helpful and concerned that we had an enjoyable stay.  The food in the pub comes from the restaurant, to which it is connected, and was great.  We liked the Tinwald so much we stayed there again on our trip back up the island.

Friendly and accomodating

We had two nights in Tinwald visiting family nearby.
The motel was very new, with a kitchenette including a free standing stove. We had a lounge area and a modern bathroom with a separate shower. There are pub meals on site or the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant twice and had. Very good meals.Diane at reception went out of her way to contact us when a relative had left a message for us at the desk and we had already left .
Highly recommended for a good value motel.

Spotless, spacious, quiet

Lovely spacious rooms and everything that we needed. Great having a bar, restaurant, and liquor store all close by. The food in the local pub was good value for money. Very convenient location and friendly staff.


Very nice stay

If you are heading south of Christchurch and want to stay someplace the first night after arriving Tinwald Motel is certainly an easy drive. It is sometimes difficult to spot from the road because it is behind a drive-in liquor store. Didn't like having to go to the bar to obtain the code to unlock the key when office is not open. Free Internet-- it is always clean.
