Great, warm and clean room with clean Linen and Bathroom facilities. Staff was exceptionally on point with requests and welcoming. No issues with the accommodation although parking is tight and some guests can be a bit rowdy. Overall a good stay if you are on a budget and need a warm and cozy bed.

"Peaceful Sleep"

The room we were meant to stay at had plumbing issues and so he had arranged another room for us to stay at in another building and it was lovely! He had upgraded the room for us from a standard to a king's room. Everything was clean, had new linens every day and the place was were equipped.

Lovely owner

We arrived after 5pm on Friday night and were welcomed by the motel owner presumably - all very pleasant. Across to the room and I dropped onto the couch opening a gap between adjacent squabs - filled with some sort of food chips. Goodness knows how long they had been there. A quick look round showed windblown leaves inside the door and carpet that had some sort of staining and tattiness. Shower before bed had the bathroom door and bedroom door failing to shut - possibly a remnant of earthquake damage. Next morning, plugged the razor into the power outlet in the bathroom - no go. Maybe that was because I assume the power socket was a traditional socket rather that a protected bathroom type socket. Generally not very clean - my wife saw things I missed being a mere maie - general grime and indicating lack of genuine cleaning.I concede this was certainly not the most expensive motel in Chch but I expected better than we got. 

Disappointing visit

Looked lovely on internet, however it was very dated and then found out this motel is used emergency housing so has people sitting outside of rooms smoking etc. Beds were comfortable. Staff were very obliging. 

Not quite like the Internet

Spotlessly clean, comfortable beds, powerful shower, quality linen andsoft furnishings, well equipped kitchenette, outstanding caring customer service delivered with a smile 😃  thanks for another great stay at abbey motor lodge - we will be back!!!

Outstanding customer care ❤

We stayed for one night in a family room. The receptionist seemed to struggle to find our booking made on booking.com but she found a room for us. We appreciated her letting us check in an hour early. We were in a family room with two twin beds in a spacious separate room and a queen bed in the living area. The queen bed was against a wall with made getting in and out a bit frustrating for the person sleeping on that side. The unit looked like it had been recently renovated and was clean. The room didn't have air conditioning and was a little hot and stuffy in January. The bathroom was spacious and modern. The motel was a short walk to the central city.
My only suggestion would be to change the bedding configuration so the queen bed isn't against a wall and also turn off the light outside the ranchslider at nighttime as it is very bright and even with the curtains it lit up the room all night.

Good location

Our unit was very clean and had everything we needed. Beds were comfortable and the location was great. A few minutes drive to the city center where you can find cafes, bars, stores and restaurants. Christchurch Gondola is only a 15 minute drive from the Abbey Motor Lodge. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Great Location

We had a spacious 2 bedroom unit with a big lounge. The bathroom had been renovated and the shower was wonderful! Really helpful friendly staff. Close to town and easy to get in and out of. On quite a busy street, but the noise wasn't too bad. I walk in the mornings, so I visited Hagley Park one day and did the red zone and river walk another day.

Abbey lodge, christchurch

Before we had got to check in we received a text message to tell us that the people who checked out of the room we were booked into had left the place smoky and that alternative arrangements had been made at the Belmont motor inn.  We appreciated that we weren't left in a smoky room with three small children or without a place to stay. The Belmont motor inn, was clean and tidy but could use the bathroom's being updated and the towels replaced or at least given a good bleach as they looked overused.

Didn't Stay

although the accommodation was further out than excepted it was clean comfortable and the customer service was excellent. thanks so much for your help and changing our rooms to one more suitable for our needs.
