We have stayed in a number of B&B's around New Zealand and this was up there with the all of them.  While there is no TV (not an issue really), the property is up a narrow drive and into the most beautiful garden and very peaceful.  Sally, the owner could not have helped us out more and was a good source of where to eat and what to do.  You must have a car though as it would be difficult to access otherwise.

A wonderful spot outside Christchurch

Featherston is well suited for couples with a car. It is nestled in the lower Cashmere Hills in a very peaceful setting. Our private and spacious bedroom overlooked the garden. The room had it's own entrance which opened out onto a sunny deck. Adjoining the bedroom was a spacious bathroom. Both rooms were very clean and nicely presented. 
This accommodation would be difficult for anyone with a mobility disability.
Each morning we were provided with a delicious and filling breakfast.
Sally is a very friendly and welcoming hostess

Peaceful and relaxing stay

This B&B was very cozy and comfortable, and best of all private.  There is a separate entrance right into the main room/bedroom and an ensuite large bath with a great shower which was delightful after long travels and a rainy, chilly day!  The owner, Sally couldn't have been nicer or more perceptive.  She didn't insist on chit chat - she could see that we were exhausted after a few long days of frustrating travel from the DRC, and was very accommodating.  She recommended a fantastic restaurant for dinner where we had one of the best dinners and offered to deliver "breakfast in bed" the next morning.  She delivered a very large bounteous tray filled with a lovely continental breakfast with many items being local source/homemade.  The room was ample size, clean and very homey,warm, quiet and comfortable.  The bathroom was large, spacious, spotless and with modern fixtures.  We thoroughly enjoyed our rejuvenating stay and would recommend this little B&B to anyone.

Peace and Quiet

Featherstone is quite an unusual place to stay. It offers an oasis of tranquility on the outskirts of the city, set back from the road and surrounded by greenery.
Sally the proprietor is a delight! She is welcoming, chatty and very easy company with a real love of gardening and delicious  home made food.
The room was comfortable and spacious, but would benefit from a TV and a fridge in the room; simply as an added facility.
The nearest restaurants are quite a drive away which is a negative point, but this is more than offset by the hospitality. 
Would we stay there again? Definitely.

Quirky yet quaint

Warm, welcoming, comfortable and clean, Featherstone is located just far enough out of town. Easy drive into the city and not far to restaurants either. Very good breakfast. Sally was very helpful with directions etc. The property is well away from the road so is very quiet and our room had its own separate entrance, but shared bathroom. The wifi was a bit dependant on device location but OK.
