Not quite the usual sort of place I'd stay in but it was actually fine.  Not in the town centre but still walking distance.  A polite welcome and explanation of facilities.  Didn't really see any other guests in my brief stay!

One night in Coromandel

Tui lodge has a very accomodating host, she made us feel at home. 
The rooms are basic but comfortable and reasonably priced. 
Perfect place for a group visit. 
It’s located about 10 minutes walk from the township, but far enough away to feel your in a rural location. 
Great kitchen facilities and the use of an outdoor bbq, there is a great outdoor area perfect for soaking up the coromandel sun. 

Great host, nice location 

My boyfriend and I had been let down by our Air bnb booking and we were looking for a place to stay very last minute plus late at night. Diane was our saviour and such a wonderful host, she went out of her way to accommodate us. The place was very well kept, clean and comfortable. Our room was perfect and the bed was comfy too! Highly recommend. We will definitely be back :)

Excellent stay

This was booked by a friend whose done a lot of traveling in her home country and on the Coromandel Peninsula. We were looking for an inexpensive place to sleep. What we got was not just that but a great "front door", a clean and well stocked common kitchen and bathrooms. It was quiet, the beds were comfy and the extra blankets were really nice. All in all a great place and if I'm in the area again I'd stay there in a heartbeat.

Wonderful hostel!

Collection of buildings in large grounds on edge of town.  About 10-15 minutes walk to shops.  Intercity bus stops at hostel (if booked, or on request).  Staff friendly and efficient.  Room to hotel standards.  Showers and toilet facilities fine.  Two kitchen facilities with dining areas.  Comfortable lounges.  Loads of outdoor space – open and covered.  Very pleasant setting and peaceful atmosphere.

Very pleasant, reasonably priced accommodation in a beautiful setting

I got bitten by bedbugs in the dorm when I stayed there a week ago. In the morning I could find blood stains on the sheets. If I was given the choice, I would avoid staying there again because the bites are still very itchy. 

Bedbugs

I stayed at Tui Lodge in 2013 and it was great, however my recent stay with my husband was not so good I’m afraid. I rang from Thames to book a room but there was only one left. When we arrived we were given room 8, up a seriously steep set of stairs, more like a ladder, above the communal kitchen. Well it was a nightmare! There were workers based there and in the evening they came back to cook, the stench from this in the room was unbearable! This went on until 10pm so we waited in the lounge until they’d all gone. Apart from the kitchen fumes the noise and language was bad, lots swearing etc. The room too also posed a fire risk, the smoke alarm had been removed and outside was a plastic roof, if their had been a kitchen fire I’m not sure we would have escaped. What was also worrying the room had four single beds crammed in it and no space for other furniture. Advice - avoid rooms 8 and 7, the one opposite to ours.

Two night stay

We spent three days there after arriving in NZ, and it was a good way to start the vacation. The lodge has great gardens, outdoor seating and eating, bbq, good facilities, and generally a lot of space and garden. The room was a bit small for a family of 4, but other than that we thoroughly enjoyed the start of our vacation and our stay there.

Wonderful location, friendly and helpful staff

Not only is the place beautiful but it's quiet on the road to Whitianga, big garden and orchard, cozy comfort, well-equipped kitchen, I slept for 30 bucks in a caravan and it was nice, awakened by the song of the birds, extremely warm hospitality.

It's a very nice place.

The room was very small and did not have direct access to the laundry rooms and had to go out at night with a headlamp on the toilet. It was quite cold, since only a small stinking electric heater was available. The sanitary facilities were not cleaned daily. In our room there were also armies looking for their way into the suitcases (there was no food or similar in the room). Overall, less recommended.
