Room was untidy, WiFi barely connected or functioned of that matter, toasters constantly trip the fuse box even when all other power and power points are turned off, heater doesn't work, kitchen tap leaks to the point where it floods the entire kitchen bench, fridge/freezer freezes up to fast then completely defrosts itself, seal on fridge door has mostly lost it's grip, broken blinds, shower door seal has pretty much all come off, grease and grime in bathroom and kitchen, very dusty, spider webs, whitetails, breakfast menu at reception is just for show, the white towels, flannels, bathmats and hand towels are discolored, cleaners were absolutely rude when I asked them if i could please get a change of towels and bathroom supplies. I let them know that my partner was in the shower and I would bring the bathmat along with the extra towel when he was done, upon my request they told me that I would not get clean towels, bathmat, hand towel, flannels, dishcloth or tea towel until i gave them the remaining towel and bathmat. When I got back to the room I talked to my partner about this whilst he was in the shower and he told me to just take the bathmat, and he would mop the floor with his towel afterwards.
I took the bathmat to the laundry room to let the ladies know of this and politely ask again however, the laundry room was locked. I then took the bathmat to the managers office and explained to him what had happened, he then took me to the laundry room to get me some fresh towels [ETC.]
I got two clean towels, a dish cloth, a tea towel and two clean flannels, then I was told that the washing was on and that I needed to wait until the laundry was finished to receive a clean bath mat and hand towel. That I did not mind since I felt that that was better than nothing.

I've been holding off on posting this review, however the cleaning staffs rude and abrupt behavior has prompted me into posting this earlier.

Room 3

I stayed here last year in room 9. Blinds held together with bandaid, room cleaning not brilliant as some things were missed. The owner was quite pleasant but when I went to mention these things at the end of the stay he was on the phone so was unable to say anything. The thing that really got to me was I put my suitcase on the bed settee and got bedbugs. Took me ages to get rid of them from my house. No doubt the owner will say it wasn't his motel, but I've seen other reviews with this comment. Have tried to leave comments on the motel site but unable to do so and have only just found Trip Advisor so leaving it here.

Room 9

Booking and communications from overseas were just so easy. Arriving in the early hours arrangements for access after hours sorted. On arrival on a cold morning at 2am how wonderful to find the heater on milk in the fridge and wifi code along with a welcome message. 

One of the cleanest rooms ever stayed in and very comfortable bed the room is standard but offers everything including a cooktop and microwave. 

The staff are fabulously helpful, polite and friendly. Highly recommend this venue.

Not centrally located but close to Eastern Beach and ideal for a mini break. 



Mini Break

Very clean room, comfortable stay and great service. The location is handy to Botany town center, juz 5 mins walking distance. Very accessible to the Airport. The manager is very helpful. They offer Free WIFI which is very fast. A big swimming pool gives it a nice ambience. I got food delivered from an Indian restaurant- Delhi Heights. The food was great. will stay here whenever we are back in Auckland.

Best motel

I had to fly up to Auckland at very short notice, for a funeral.
On my arrival at the Academy At Botany Motor Inn, the manager welcomed me warmly.  He pointed out I could have a studio for thirty dollars less than I was paying, as I didn't need the one bedroom I had booked.

He asked me what had brought me to Auckland, I told him, and he offered me kindness and sympathy.

After I got into the studio, I wished I hadn't said yes, as the motor inn is beside a very busy arterial road, which is of course, just one of those things, and the traffic noise was very high, especially to someone from a quiet regional centre.

So I went back to the office, offered extra money, and said I needed a quiet unit so I could rest.  What happened next took my breath away.

Not only did the dear man not charge me any extra whatsoever, he put me in their two bedroom unit, the most spacious and comfortable accommodation he had, at no extra charge.

It has a large spa bath, a spacious lounge, choice of double or single beds, a large fridge/freezer, even a dish drawer.

I have travelled all over the world, and have found that comfortable accommodation is not hard to find, but that kind, helpful, and friendly accommodation providers, ARE very hard to find indeed.

So - although it is 20km from downtown Auckland, and 15km from Auckland Airport, I am staying there next time I need a bed in Auckland.  I happened to end up there as the funeral was in Howick, but next time I am going there on purpose.

If I could give this chap, whose name I don't even know, seven stars for service on here, I would.  He provided me with warm kind service, genuine hospitality, and a restful sleep, at a very, very, trying time, and I can only hope that this review goes some way toward repaying him for his kindness and generosity.

Stay at the Academy Of Botany, even though its a bit out of the city centre.  You will not be disappointed.

Breakfast is average - not recommended.
The location is walking distance to supermarkets and other places to eat out for dinner.
