This is a find, had the most friendliest greeting ever, we had a lovely spacious cabin, heating was on when we entered which was nice, it’s in a lovely setting and no noise, the chalet was fully equipped, bed and pillows were so comfy didn’t want to move, our hostess made sure we were ok, and even came and sat with us for a while, her name was Stella, and even came and fussed us when we were leaving. By the way Stella is a loving dog , better than any hotel, definitely recommend the rainforest motel

Beautiful location 

Passed through for one night. Lovely, well-appointed stopover place with a great mountain view - if you’re in one of the first three cabins. Only things that let it down were the same things as in most other motels in this part of the world - no fan or AC! Rooms are very warm, and only way to cool them down is to open the (unscreened) windows and let in the sandflies and mosquitoes along with the breeze. Screen the windows or add a standing fan, and this place is great.

Great stopover option in Fox Glacier

I expected this motel to be just an average, inexpensive  motel for a one night stay. What a surprise! 
Our room was spacious and spotless. The bathroom was large and the full kitchen well equipped. The room was filled with light from the large glass doors.
It was great to see toiletries provided with no little plastic bottles. 
There is a laundry at the motel with washing machines and dryers.
The staff were friendly and helpful regarding places to visit and dining suggestions.

Great value

Rainforest Motel is manned by a friendly guy who gave good advice on where the best sights are and the best times to see them. Each motel room is spaced comfortably apart from one another which affords more privacy. Outside, there is a nice open field to enjoy the cool weather and watch the sunset! There's a small dining table and sofa, kitchen with microwave, TV (cable, no Netflix) and 2 bedrooms. Curiously, there is only one bathroom with toilet, so there needs to be a bit of rationing when it comes to sharing. The motel is located only 5 mins' walk from a grocery store, and nestled between Lake Matheson and Fox Glacier trailheads.

Motel it is not!

Although they may look rustic from the outside, the rooms at the Rainforest Motel are top  notch. The kitchenette was well equipped, the living area spacious and the bed sooo comfy. I have to say that the bathroom towels were the most luxurious of any  hotel I have stayed in. When we arrived, the owner suggested a good viewing point to see the glacier and advised us to go right away because the weather wasn't looking promising. We followed his advice and got a good look at the glacier. Had we waited even an hour or so, we would have been disappointed. So glad we chose the Rainforest Motel.

A great place to stay in Fox Glacier

motel style accommodation,parking in front of room very nicely appointed and large interior.high quality linens and paper products. very clean . friendly check in and advice from owner on local sites etc. Great one or two night stop in the area to catch Fox and Franz Joseph Glaciers ..it might rain .be prepared..

Friendly and helpful staff. Gave us a map of nearby attractions & shops, and recommended us the best time to visit Lake Matheson so we could get a nice reflection view of the mountains. Room was clean and spacious. Much more spacious than most motel we've stayed in NZ for the same price point. Basic amenities available. Parking is free and right in front of our room. There is a laundry room available too, costing NZD 2 each to use the washing machine and dryer. Satisfied and happy with our stay here.

Clean and spacious room

Stayed one night at a studio room with kitchenette. However, we had some difficulties placing our 2 luggages comfortably though the room is considered spacious. Perhaps can do a little rearranging of furniture to make it easier to access. Bathroom has some rooms for improvement too eg the water floods a little outside the shower unit even though we closed the glass door already. But the price we booked was a great one-night stay over so still give 4 stars! 

Great location motel at affordable price

We stayed two nights and it was perfect for us. It was spotless and comfy. Even though it rained and was fffrrreezing we stayed nice and snug indoors.
The bed was super nice to sleep in and the decor was extremely upmarket. We chose the larger room for space and were very much pleased we had.
The owner was exceptionally nice man with an English accent and a cat and dog that made us feel very welcome. 
We loved loved Fox and dined at Lake Matheson Restaurant which was spectacular and well worth the meals we had there. 
If you want a quiet town in mid winter with plenty of room to move and space to think this is it! I highly recommend.
