Once again I had the most fantastic experience staying at this motel. I was given a room upgrade. Amazing space. Fully kitted out kitchen. A great Night n' Day stored 100m down the road. Due to it being summer it was very light in the evening. Thankfully the unit was fitted with love think good quality black out curtains.  Can not recommend this place enough. Will definitely be back.  

Good top quality accommodation 

I have just returned from a month working in Invercargill and stayed at the colonial on Tay in a 1 bedroom unit. Denise and Roger were fantastic hosts, from the early check in to picking me up from the airport once I returned my hire car. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were immaculately clean, tidy and always smelt very nice, which was a credit to yourselves  and the cleaning staff, The cooking facilities were everything I needed, full stove and oven, decent size fridge and plenty of cookware and cupboard space. The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the added bonus of a full laundry on site. Very close to the centre of town, restaurants and attractions, with a 24hr day night just on the corner 100m away. I will definitely stay there again if I’m back in Invercargill and would not hesitate to recommend this accommodation to anyone. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

Clean, tidy and close to town

From arrival to check out this motel and the lovely owners were amazing.  Stunningly clean, warm to the point of having to open the place to cool down. Not a speck of dirt to be found. Stainless steel polished so well you can almost use it as a mirror!
Highly recommend.  Wouldn't look anywhere else.  

Absolutely amazing from the minute I stepped out of the car to check in.

Very clean and spacious two bedroom suite. Lovely , helpful and friendly hosts. Had a wonderful stay. Had wifi and many tv channels. Laundry on site was helpful.
Fully equip kitchen. Close to downtown Invercargill. Everything was within a 10 minute drive.

Family visit

This would be the worst motel we have ever stayed in. Booked out family into 2 rooms for the week. Was told we would have a stove ended up getting a tiny hot plate with a bench so small you could never cook in the room anyway. Rooms are very small, beds are uncomfortable ended up spending half the week sleeping on the couch. 
The rooms are in no way serviced. Beds not made for you or changed all week. 
Only allowed one towel per person even when we asked for an extra. Told we could have an old one but that was it. Bedrooms were cold due to there only being a heater in the lounge. 
Bad lighting in rooms. Basic TV channels. Several things broken in the room. 
Unfortunately there was a large event on in Invercargill which meant all accomodation was full for the week, otherwise we would have moved to a new motel on the first day.

Worst Motel Ever !!!!

We had several nights here as our base while in Invercargill.  It was a little further out of town than we would have liked, but everything else over rode that.  We had a two bedroom unit and the living area was  great.
We got  load of washing underway on our arrival.  When we returned pre dinner, it was already underway in the drier.  On our return after going out for dinner, it was all folded up on the dining room table - that is going the extra mile.
We would recomend the Colonial and it's owners any day!

Repeat visit and the property goes from strength to strength
Denise and Roger make you feel so welcome and cannot do enough for you
They are quietly redecorating units to make stays even more pleasant.
Location great and place is not on the boy racers usual circuits so sleep is possible

Home away from home

Booked out 2 x 2 bedroom units with family. Both units were  large (one bigger than the other) clean, tidy and warm. I'm really fussy so was pleased that they were so clean. The units were a great size and more like having a house to stay in. The bonus is that the bedrooms are separated from the lounge by a hallway so you can make noise and not keep the kids awake.

While built in the 70s, the units have been upgraded and featured modern appliances, new bathrooms, comfortable beds, a nice flat screen TV, and everything needed for a comfortable stay. One unit had an older, but clean and functional kitchen. 

Great value for money and enough space for a family,and close enough to walk to amenities.

Very clean and well presented

Sure, it is getting a little old but our room was gleamingly clean and cheap.
On the main drag - but quiet.
Close enough to the centre to walk everywhere.
We were only in town for the weekend and I don’t think the kitchenette would have done us for longer. But if you want a simple unpretentious place to sleep then the Colonial on Tay was more than ok.

Walk everywhere and value for money.

We booked the 2 bdrm apartment and I have to say that the rooms were very spacious and warm that was because the  proprietor had the heating on when we arrived. As it was a very bleak day with it being ranining and extremely cold. We were impressed by standard of this motel especially for the very reasonable tariff. We will certainly stay here again.
