What a shame Trish and Ray are moving on: with the sale of Safari Lodge they are now seeking a sea change.
Warm and welcoming, incredibly comfortable, well-appointed accommodation, and hearty breakfasts, they offered it all.

Their penultimate guests

As we did not meet Ray and the dog all the credit for our most pleasant stay goes to Trish... The Rhino Room is spacious with a comfortable 4-poster bed and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. I particularly loved the Victorian basin and the wooden cabinet below and also the bed spread in red and gold matching the blinds. The old Edwardian house is a treasure - Victorian style furniture mixed with African art... You can sense that a lot of passion has been used for the restoration. Breakfast in the dining room was special, too - prepared with love. I told Trish that only one thing was missing: the soundtrack of "Out of Africa"...
We only had one night in Invercargill - a shame, really. It should have been two at least.

Different in the most positive way. Edwardian house with Victorian features, lovingly restored by their owners Trish and Ray to a very high standard. Their art collection is fantastic.
And so are the facilities, room, bathroom and the breakfast. We had a fantastic stay and only wish we could have had more time.
Trish recommended a restaurant, Buster Crabb, and arranged free pick up to be taken to the restaurant (and back at the end of the evening).

Unique, fabulous place to stay

Last time I stayed in Invercargill I stayed in a very average motel.  This time I chose so much better and would absolutely do this again.  The property is really interesting and beautiful.  The room styling was fabulous - not over the top - and very comfortable.  The bathroom in the room I had wasn't huge but very nice.  Trish was super hospitable and couldn't do enough to help me out.  Breakfast was lovely and personal and I just wish I could transport this place to a toenailed that I visit more often but then Trish and Ray wouldn't be happy as they are true southerners.

Without question I would return

We had the most amazing stay at Safari Lodge. Ray and Trish were the best hosts and the accommodation was beautiful. 

We were here for the Bluff Oyster Festival and Ray even drive us down and back. Daily breakfast included and so yummy 😋. The mulled wine 🍷 of an evening was so good I asked Trish for her recipe 

If you are ever inthis part of the world, do yourself a favour and book to stay here. You won’t regret it!!

Definately the best place to stay in Invercargill

Trish and Ray could not have been better hosts.  The house was fascinating - filled with interesting furniture and decorative pieces from their years spent in Africa.  A fresh cooked breakfast (to order) filled us to bursting each morning -- just the thing to fuel a day exploring Invercargill and environs.  After a long day playing, what is better than a leisurely soak in the hot tub with the wife?  Location, top quality facilities, super-friendly hosts -- we highly recommend the Safari Lodge.

Trish is lovely and helpful host - she arranged room for us early morning, 5 hours before official check-in time.
She also fulfilled all requests we had. Safari lodge house is amazing, big plus from hot tube.

Combined business and vacation

Great hosts (and very helpful in suggestions for we where to stop on South coast) in lovely old house filler with stuff collected during their five year stay. Great breakfast. All was first rate. Just stayed the one night on a drive along South coast.

My room was comfortable and spacious in Ray and Trish's fabulous house.  They were lovely hosts and opened the hot tub for me even though I was the only guest and gave an excellent dinner recommendation.  After a tasty breakfast we had a good chat together then I had a straight forward journey to the Stewart Island ferry.  Many thanks!
