The Turret was the best place we stayed our entire time in New Zealand! I wish we had spent even more time there and was sad to leave.The rooms are spacious and the bed we stayed in was so comfortable. Probably the most relaxed I've been in awhile! The view of the lake is spectacular, and we really enjoyed exploring Arrowtown right nearby. Kim is incredible. Ask her for recommendations! She gave us great food and adventure sports recommendations and we had so much fun spending time and chatting with her. It's a perfect distance from Queenstown- you can easily drive in to enjoy the city but still come home and relax in the countryside. We highly recommend it!

Beautiful and Welcoming Place to Stay!

I had the most amazing stay at The Turret for several days this summer. The location is perfect - house is located near beautiful Lake Hayes and the atmosphere is very relaxed, but at the same time you can reach the centre of Queenstown within just few minutes drive. The wiev on the lake and mountains is gorgeous, rooms are convenient and the bed was super comfortable. Every room was kept clean and tidy, all neccessary things were provided, there was really nothing missing. There are plenty of options to go on beautiful hikes in Arrowtown or enjoy Queenstown actvities. The hostess Kim is very friendly and helpful, the communication was so easy and I enjoyed every day of my stay. I would highly reccommend staying here, you will definitelly not regret it. The perfect place to stay near Queenstown!

+ Ceiling fan above bed (this helps during the day - it gets stuffy and hot quickly)
+ Wine glasses provided
+ Will provide adaptor plugs for outlets if requested
+ Host not always available in person but fast responder to emails
+ Safe area, but suggest requesting room key if one is not provided.

- LOUD traffic sounds from the highway right in front of the property - not serene nor peaceful. Don't expect to sleep in or take a nap without earplugs.

- No curtains on the closet window and landscapers are right at the window.
- No milk in the fridge for tea/coffee
- Already used & meager in-room coffee and tea selections
- Glass windows at room door looking right into and at your bed (no privacy)
- Breakfast was not included in the price
- Notice the lack of food photos. This is more a clean place to sleep.
- Scratchy, non-breathing sheets.
- Might want to wash or bleach mattress pad - could see stains through the sheets
- No instructions for tv and box system channels
- No bath salts or extra soap for bath tub
- No tissues available
- Toilet paper is very thin and rough - but eco-friendly
- Wifi goes in and out. Not stable. Need to ask for password
- Lack of proper amenities for a room requesting more than $300/night. 1 small round of soap for 2 adults for 3 days? Had to request for more soap even though they come into the room everyday.
- Probably best to not make racial stereotype comments when you're the host.

Expectations might be higher when you're paying luxury prices for a suite at a b&b. There is no focus on good food or food for that matter - this was a disappointment. Not even a bowl of fruit or small snacks in the eating area. You don't know if you can help yourself to a hot tea in the common area kitchen. However, the last negative review ( see above) is a strong reason why this location is not recommended. It was heartbreaking to hear upon leaving such a beautiful area.

Scratchy bed it is. Breakfast, not so much.

5 nights during peak season - Turret Suite

We enjoyed staying in this B&B for a night – the room and bathroom was nice and clean, the view of the lake is nice, and it's very peaceful and quiet. Kim was very warm and friendly, and made us a wonderful breakfast. We appreciated all of her great tips for the area – including the hike from Arrowtown (we recommend doing this!). Everything was clean and tidy. And while the bathroom is quite small, it had everything we needed.

Warm hospitality, quiet location and comfortable room!

We could not fault our whole experience at The Turret. Breakfast was great and the upgrade to the Turret Suite was fantastic what a gem of a place, delightful. There is a great view of Lake Hayes and the property is located in easy reach of both Queenstown and Arrowtown. The bath was great for tired muscles with no end of piping hot water. Nothing was too much trouble, we'd highly recommend this property and we will be back again. Many thanks again for a great start to our NZ trip.
