My wife and I stayed at the Harbourlights for 3 nights.  The room was large and elegant. The view superb.  I am not a breakfast gourmet, but I found the breakfast to be very good.  Best of all Peter and Jan are superb tour guides.  They made very good suggestions for us finishing our New Zealand safari on the North Island.  Needless to say we would happily return to this B+B if we returned to Wellington.

An Excellent Stay

We stayed at Harbourlights for 2 nights after coming to the North Island on the Interislander  ferry. Although it is outside of Wellington it was well placed for the ferry but it should be noted that to drive into the city, parking is expensive.  
The room was well appointed and the bed comfortable. Everything was spotlessly clean and there were some thoughtful touches such as home made biscuits. 
Breakfast was a real highlight, the choice made the evening before and we could either eat in our room or with Jan and Peter, the owners, upstairs in their kitchen/diner. The food was delicious, company a pleasure to talk to and the view to die for!
We wish all B&B hosts were so friendly and helpful. 

Everything you need in a B&B 

While planning a trip to NZ we were told about Harbourlights in Lower Hutt just north of Wellington.
This B&B is in a great location with spectacular views of the bay and Wellington. It was comfortable and well appointed and our hosts Peter and Jan Gunn were excellent not just for the breakfast offered but also for the care in providing extras like recommendations on local tourist attractions which we would probably not have seen without their help.
We unreservedly recommend this B&B.

Best B&B

There are many Trip Advisor reviews stating how good this B & B is; we wholeheartedly agree.  It's a fabulous location overlooking Wellington Harbour perched on a steep hill. The guest accommodation with its big airy room is 1st rate.  There's even a little garden to sit in leading from the patio doors, if you want to enjoy the sun.
The hosts, Peter & Jan,  were very friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfasts, set in a lovely room, were just superb.  
Jan even did some of our washing for us - service second to none.
We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we had been able to stay longer.  Definitely recommended.

Absolutely first class B & B

We stayed just one very comfortable and enjoyable night.  We had a large room with a king size bed and en suite bathroom.  The house has an amazing view of the city and Wellington harbor.  Our hosts Jan and Peter were friendly and informative.  They offered a dinner option which we gladly accepted.  We had a delicious and healthy salmon dinner in addition to the entertaining and enjoyable conversation with our hosts.  We highly recommend Harbourlights Bed and Breakfast.
