Dirty unkept rooms that the management don't care about. How this lodge has ever been accessed as anything but one star is a mystery. Be aware it was used for emergency accomodation when social housing was sparse.

We were a large group booking and every single room was terrible. Several rooms had no hot water for the five nights. Each room was supposed to come with a fully equiped kitchen and not one did. One of the rooms had not one thing - cups, plates, cutlery, pots, etc., literally nothing. How can you service a room and not realised the whole lot is gone. There was none of the usual things you'd get in a bathroom, like hair dryers. They did provide an unusually large number of shampoo/conditioner and soap bottles/packets though.

My part of the group had a three bedroom unit that slept five. The kitchen and lounge was downstairs and three bedrooms and bathroom were upstairs. They said they could only provide one key for us though which was inconvenient. One bed had dirty sheets, the shower smelt like sewerage. One of our group removed a blockage of hair from the shower drain and it smelt better after that. The shower head was almost fitted in a corner and it was hard to get under it without hitting the shelf that was there. Some of the towels were stained quite badly.

We had no confidence the owners would do a thing. They had been called out out on the filth and it didn't seem to worry them.

The windows were covered in grime on the outside and the inside wasn't much better. The bath was dirty and had what looked like pubic hair sitting in it. The oven was covered in grime. When the toaster was used a cockroach ran out of it. The couch was covered in stains. Curtains weren't fitted properly. Cupboards in the kitchen had shelves hanging down and oddly, handprints with paint in some of them. The stove top was disgusting and missing a hob grate. The range hood had filthy filters. The blinds in the kitchen and bathroom were like children's ones with a Star Wars theme. It was bizarre.

Light bulbs were sparse and for some reason most were removed. Most of the power points didn't work. The stairwell to the second floor looked like an afterthought. The landing in the middle was against windows that didn't look like safety glass (we looked for the logo), which is illegal.

Overall that lodge should be closed down. It was filthy and not maintained.

Filthy, poor maintained, uncaring owners, avoid it.

My wife made a booking through Booking.com.She mixed the dates up on the booking.When the office rang to confirm the booking they refused to change the booking by one day or refund.Avoid this doggy, tourist trap and avoid Booking.com, which is an American ecommerce multinational.$165 for nothing thanks Midway.The fact that we were travelling long distance for a funeral compounded our grief.

Re poor service

I am not fussy. I have stayed in 100's of places around the world and never has there been a place as terrible as this. Cold and a small portable heater. Toilet outlet pipe goes through an open hole in the wall - this is where the wildlife came in. The bed was so old it had coil springs and wobbled. No electric blanket, Old bedding, with bed stuck in an alcove. TV remote did not work and 2 out of 4 wall plugs were faulty. I arrived in the dark and the unit was right next to the noisiest busiest road in NZ. It was penance for arriving late which was pre arranged. Took 35min to find someone with a key 300m up the road. I paid $151.83. DO NOT STAY HERE. It is unkept, dirty, mould in the bathroom, stains on the carpet and nobody cared when I contacted them later. I stayed next day in Kaikoura in a new Motel with breakfast, full Sky. kitchenette and perfect service for $135. SEEE ABOVE- do not book here.

Old. worn out, no maintenance, NOISY, no service,  stained. An absolute hole.

Singularly the worst motel I have ever stayed at in a developed country. It was tired and dirty. There were ants crawling around the bathroom floor. Read the reviews...I wish I had before I booked. The unit was damp and cold. There was no heater that I could find.  A total disgrace...don't be fooled by the pictures. 

Terrible 

BEST place I’ve stayed at! Super clean & nice design! I loved the convenience of how close it was to local shops! The area was great!  The place had all the amenities we needed. Looking forward to coming back and staying again!

Very comfortable bed

Check in was easy, the place was extra clean and very well thought out. The hotel was nice and cozy each night and had all the amenities I could need. The response time for questions when I got in late was quick and helpful. I would for sure recommend this place to anyone.

The PERFECT location

This is the one in Petone, Wellington. We had to book somewhere last minute for my Grandad's funeral. The toilet was disgusting - it need a good bleach and scrub as the bottom of the bowl was covered in brown slime. We opened cupboard doors and they just fell off, the cupboard doors were swollen (we guessed from flood damage) and mouldy. There were ants scouting around constantly throughout our stay. The beds were really close together - about 60cm apart. And there was nowhere at all to sit (other than on the beds). Oh and the wiring was dodgy, the light switches had be flicked a couple of time before the lights would work. 
There is no on-site reception so every time we had an issue we had to jump in the car or walk down a block to a nearby motel. They didn't service our room after our second night and the window was broken off its hinge when we opened it.

Unless you're desperate, I would not recommend this place at all to anyone.

If only it were clean

From the pictures online we knew it wasn't going to be luxurious. This review doesn't take into account style necessarily; it's mainly focused on cleanliness. Any motel, regardless of age or condition should be clean. This place had mould on all the windows, which made the place smell, the carpet was sticky, as was the lino in the bathroom/toilet - awful to walk on in bare feet that's for sure. There was a shampoo/body wash dispenser in the shower cubicle but it was empty. A couple of extra towels and pillows would have been good - the pillows on the bed were very thin. Reception wasn't staffed - we had to pick our key up from another motel down the road, and the person there didn't seem to know what he was doing as it took quite a while to check in. I've stayed in much nicer, similarly priced places - this motel is awful. Overall, we didn't enjoy staying here and would not recommend it to anyone. 

Grotty and over-priced

It was a good stay! The staff was particularly helpful, accommodating and shared his knowledge every time I asked questions. The overall experience was outstanding! Highly recommended to all of my family and friends here in our area! Nice place!

Had a terrible time,  there was mouldy food around the motel, broken glass in the outside area, no smoke alarms, place seemed unclean. 
We loved Wellington however, so just went out and didn't want to come back to motel!
