Disliked · Felt haunted. Disgusting standard of cleanliness, musty smell, hadn't been vacuumed in what looked like quite a while, appearance of human body fluids/excretions on walls in living spaces, no comfortable furniture to sit on infront of the only television with cable tv (upstairs tv in bedroom had no cable) paper thin walls, every step on the stairs made a horrendous noise and felt very unsafe, bathroom window latches broken so window wouldn't close, beds were uncomfortable, I could honestly go on and on.. they also somehow were able to bypass booking.com when I thought I made secure payment through the booking vendor with the online reservation but they directly charged me when I arrived without me handing them over my card, which I incurred a very unreasonable surcharge for. Literally the most unjustified $170, and I very much regret not walking straight back out the door to demand a refund then and there as it was late. I was told by property manager the next morning that I should be refunded something when I addressed my dissatisfaction but he managed to brush me off into leaving reception by giving me "management email" which I'm almost certain he admins himself, and I have been corresponding to but with out any foreseeable result of any refund. I know they offer emergency housing so I feel bad saying that this place should be shut down, or at the very least, under go some serious inspection

DON'T STAY HERE

Unfortunately this once lauded establishment is no longer the wonder that it once was.  It is now fully booked by Housing New Zealand and the units are permanently lived in - with the odd unit coming up for the general public in between tenancies - and being utilised as full time accommodation the units are very run down. Our recent stay had no plates or cups, broken window latch, furniture and curtains, used soap in the shower, torn carpeting, chipped architraves, stained walls - and extremely poor communication when trying to obtain a refund.  This 3.5 star rating needs to be lowered to a negative.

Absolutely Awful

Worst experience. Everything in the room was just not up to standards. Dirty walls and ceilings. Broken bins. Kitchen appliances not working. Tv not working. Previous customers hair in our beds and showers. Broken chairs. Beds barely made. Unsafe placement of plugs and cords. Iffy wifi and LACK OF COMMUNICATION. 
They did not refund a fair amount. And each time i proved we were right for a refund, they gave us different excuses. 
We even provided photos.
This is saying a lot as our family have stayed in multiple motels/hotels/inns and we haven't had anything so bad that we thought we deserved a refund.

AVOID!

The room was disgusting - TV reception terrible, WiFi kept dropping out, Bathroom flooded as Shower door broken, Shower rose broken, no Tea bags, room dirty, no one on site to deal with noisy neighbors, duct tape sealing bathroom Lino, no breakfast available as web site offered

Very poor quality accommodation

0/10 so far and i checked in 1 day ago. 
The bare necessities DON’T work. I have to boil my water in the microwave …
Communication is poor and price almost DOUBLED to what is online because work and income sent an email… do not recommend and by the looks of the reviews, people hate it here and so do I. I’ll be going to the business innovations team about this quality of Motel and the suss payment requests. Watch this space. Formal complaint is coming!!

Big run around and changed their prices AFTER i checked in?

I booked two nights at this motel for a business trip.  The day prior to my booking I received a confirmation email, but on arriving at the motel was told that there was no booking for me and they had no vacancies.
The manager explained that this is happening regularly now, as their bookings are run through a centralised system.

Don't book this motel

Worst stay of my life. For just under $200 a night there is no reception, no cleaner or cleaning materials, stairs that would not meet Health and Safety Conditions. The manager would promise towels which never turned up.  How do we clean  the toilet? clean up crumbs off the floor, no tea towels for our dishes. We stayed 5 nights and the manager was quick to swipe our credit card but we had to BEG him to come to reception to deal with waiting visitors.

Do not Stay Here

Firstly had to ring the doorbell twice an with no one appearing, went an got my phone to ring reception, the lady on the counter couldn't of cared at all an was very abrupt, we paid $202.00 for one night, an after been traveling for 3 weeks around NZ this hotel would of been the most expensive an the biggest rip off, stains on carpet, the heating didn't work, we had a one bedroom unit with  a bed upstairs an walking on the stairs was a nightmare not to wake anyone they were so noisy, grotty bathroom, the whole unit smelt, we arrived late or we would of left, would never day again.

Wouldn't recommend 

Since covid this motel has been run into the ground.

....... There were no notices in the Reception diclaiming the non operational Restaurant & Bar
........ The Reception was never maned at the indicated times. 
........ The Duty Managers spoke unintelligible English 
....... The Duty Manager argued rather than offering solutions as they arose, crossing the most basic of customer service standards, just totally rude. 
...... Not even a continental breakfast was avaliable or offered, even the lowest rated motels offer this service. 
....... There was not even a welcome folder in the room, suggesting other eating establishments 
....... The tourist booklet was dated 2016 how shoddy, total lack of consideration for travellers needing up to date information. 
...... I coudnt even use my own grocery items as there was not even a toaster, or microwave in the room. 
...... There was a an avacado size stain and four more stains on the couch. 
....... There were multiple stains on the duvet cover
....... There was no expellair in bathroom (this is now a legal requirement under current building standards, not a optional extra) 
...... Bathroom had a small 8inch square window which took 1/2hr to demist even with the door open. 
....... The shampoo canister in shower collapsed first time used. 
........ The shaver socket was not 
secure, so posed a serious lethal electocution hazard for young 
children
........ There were the barest miniumm of sky channels avaliable, with no instructions to even access them. 

Overall Champers Motel was the most discusting motel I have ever had the displeasure of staying in. 
Fortunately for me I managed to block my credit card  & only paid for one of the two nights I stayed.

Very unimpressed with the room we paid alot of money for. Window in bathroom broken not shut, pelmets covered in dust. Went to open kitchen window..was greasy and disgusting.  WILL NEVER RECOMMEND..yuk
