Maple Ledge was the first place my son and I stayed on our adventure of NZ. The beds were very comfortable and it was well stocked with complimentary tea and coffee. The shower was great and there were plenty of towels. It was a decent walk into Matamata and we enjoyed our first day very much. The motel is a bit worn but, nonetheless, its very nice.

Very nice start to our adventures

Normally choose 4-4 1/2 star accomodation , but in some quainter NZ rural towns, ya just go with the flow.
Maple Lodge motel is a drift back in time , but a wonderful one at that. Nicely located to both the town and the Matamata-TeAroha cycle trail , which was the our reason for our stay in Matamata. Booked directly with the motelier who was very helpful, and entertaining and gave us a great tip on where to dine in Matamata, newly opened Sofra Meditteranean
 restaurant , will do another review separately. The motel is nicely distanced from the main highway, iwas probably built in the 70's , inter tenancy masonry block walls off that area. We had a studio- generously and very comfy bed, with comfy soft
pillows, good air con, all ya needs for a one nite stopver and being no.9 fairly quiet. After a long and warm ride was nice to come back and have a dip in the pool. We both njoyed our stay here and big ups to our
 wonderful host Fiona. So if ya doing the trail and need a nice and comfy stay - try The Maple Lodge 

Nice Yesteryear motel

Very clean and comfortable. Check in with Peter? was very professional and he was most accommodating. Excellent value for money. This is an older motel but met all our expectations. A lovely quiet stay.

The Spicer Review

Pete and Ra are very good hosts they went the extra mile to see we were happy with every thing, the room  was clean to   a high degree   ,there was a laundry which was a added bonus, and close by plenty of eateries ,we were very happy ,congratulations Pete and Ra

Its a ten

we booked over the phone direct with Maple Lodge Motel to stay that night. we indicated we would be arriving about 7pm (it ended up to be more 8pm). The lovely lady said she would leave the unit unlocked with heater on, milk in fridge, Wifi tickets and key on bench. True to her word, we found it all in place. The unit  was probably a good 40 years old but had been immaculately maintained and presented. was lovely and warm and very comfortable - excellent value for money. When we went to check out in the morning, we were greeted with a very cheery hostess (same lady I spoke to on the phone). Highly recommend for the tariff charged. Thank you!

went the extra mile for our comfort

The rooms were clean, kitchenette open into lounge, separate bedroom and bathroom, quite spacious.  Lovely grounds and a short walk to the centre of town.  Free Wifi. The rooms were big enough for a family.  There is a swimming pool.

Holiday

Overall this is a cute, clean motel in a good location (10 min walk to Matamata).  On the negative side, there is no air conditioning, however they do provide a fan.  The room had a musty smell to it and the extra pillows in the closet smelled like body odour.  

The bed was comfortable (except for the heated blanket switch which was embedded right under the pillow area?).

The person at the reception was a bit disorganized and could not find a map of the town for us (which really wasn't needed).  

If you are not picky this place is good.

Ok for one night.

Our first port of call after we flew into Auckland for our biannual month long visit. Stayed here as partner wanted to go to Hobbiton before we made our way down south. A warm welcome, clean and comfortable. Easy 5 minute walk into town.  Only stayed for one night but was exactly what we needed after 24 hours of travelling. If ever back on the region, would happily stay here again. 

First port of call

This is a great little hotel. It is excellent value for money. Clean and tidy. Comfy bed. Good shower. Short drive to main shopping area. Friendly manager. Good size room with cooking facilities. Handy to town.
