We stayed here for 2 nights and were just delighted with our welcome, Such a lovely couple, We were up in Matata for a funeral so could not have as much time with the hosts as we would have liked but they are both just such lovely people! On departure, I was given some Black Doris plum jam, Was just delish! Would love to come back at some stage to wonder around the amazing gardens,   Thank you both so much  Cheers  Joy Barnes

So very Welcoming

We had the pleasure of staying at Fothergills late last year. Bev and Hilton made us feel very welcome in their beautiful house. We enjoyed wandering around the lovely garden and generally relaxing after what had been a hectic week of driving around sightseeing.
Breakfast next morning was incredible. The table was laden with home made treats which we very much appreciated. On our departure we were given little pots of home made jam, an added treat. If we come back to NZ we will come back to Fothergills.

Amazing garden, beautifully maintained.
Food served by staff was wonderful, you can bring your own meat for BBQ, and you can also request to share dinner with the property owner, and the garden food taste awesome. The tools provided for dinning and breakfast is very precise and nice, which make the whole eating experience very fun.
The special thing about this accommodation is the sharing of experience between you and the family of the property.
I personally like the nearby roads very quiet and hilly which you can hop out and run first thing in the morning.
The room with 2 single beds were a bit too warm in summer, fortunately there is fan so wasn't turn out too bad. Insect do bite at the garden, insect repellent maybe needed, and it is available in the bathroom as well as sunscreen.

Super enjoyable, something you can't forget!

We knew when we booked Fothergills that it would be good but it exceeded all our expectations. Bev and Hilton were fantastic hosts, warm and generous, making us feel  very welcome in their lovely home. The magnificent garden was full of roses and fruit trees from which we had our freshly squeezed juice for breakfast. Breakfast was an event to be savoured with all kinds of goodies from the garden plus a host of delicious homemade jams and preserves from Bev’s store cupboard. The garden was a delightful place to walk around or sit and relax and the hot tub on the patio surrounded with fragrant roses was a real treat. Having lived in the area for many years  Bev and Hilton were able to provide good information and advice about interesting things to see and do in this beautiful part of  NZ. I couldn’t recommend this wonderful place and very special people more highly! Mary and Joe

A very special place and people

Just had a lovely 6 day stay at Bev and Hilton's. Found the breakfast amazing in such a rural setting amidst the fruit trees and roses - out if this world.
Bev and Hilton remarkable hosts -  on hand with suggestions of places to visit. Nothing is too much trouble - they let us use their BBQ and do our washing! 
Hope to visit again next time we're in NZ.

A little piece of heaven

We found the Fothergills on Mimiha quite by chance -  we were so delighted with this wonderful hidden Garden of Eden.  Bev & Hilton are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble.  Highly recommend to one & all.  Try it - you will not be disappointed...

A Unique Place to Stay

We stayed for two nights with Bev and Hilton in early April this year. They gave us a very warm welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed staying in the guest room of their beautiful home with its magnificent garden. Our room was clean, light and airy with access to a small kitchen area outside where Bev had kindly placed fruit, home baked cookies, tea, coffee etc.However the highlight for us was joining them both for breakfast where we were offered freshly squeezed clementine juice, rock melon, figs, blueberries, yogurt and home made muesli, followed by ham and tomato croissant plus toast and an amazing variety of homemade jams. Wonderful!

Home from home  - with glorious breakfasts!

A true bed and breakfast in the Bay of Plenty. The hospitality from Bev and Hilton are second to none. Their warm and genuine nature was evident from the time of enquiry and booking our two night stay. They both welcomed us and we felt like we were home. The accommodation is completely seperate to the residence and comfortable, though the only issue I would argue with was the slow Wi-Fi, which did not bother myself as much as opposed to my two teenage kids! Bev and Hilton take pride in their property and the immaculate gardens are an example of this. It's lovely to take some time and enjoy the peaceful grounds. Above all, Bev is a fantastic cook. Arriving at breakfast to inviting aromas of freshly prepared cereals, breads, french toast, homemade jams,(which she sells as well) and delicious home grown berries, was a highlight. Fothergills is a great little spot for some rest and relaxation time when discovering the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.

Home Away From Home

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in December.  It was a return visit to Bev and Hilton's countryside B&B for my partner who had stayed here in 2011.
  
We loved our stay.  The accommodation is large and separate, which was perfect for us.   There is a  small kitchenette (sink, fridge, microwave) which we used on our first night for dinner (as we were so tired from our trip).  The grounds are gorgeous.  At night you can see a sky full of stars and hear the near by sea.  Sleeping was very comfortable. 

Bev and Hilton are lovely hosts, very warm and welcoming.  The breakfast is delicious with homemade jams and granola. 

We used Fothergills on Mimiha as a jumping off place to travel and see the area.  We went to Ohope Beach and scenic drive to Opotiki  We missed out on White Island due to weather - but this only means we need to return to Whakatane and stay at Bev and Hiltons lovely B&B in the future!

See the stars in the countryside!!

We had such an enjoyable few days staying here.  Bev and Hilton are  very welcoming and hospitable hosts.  The accommodation was very clean and comfortable.  The garden was absolutely to die for  The sight and smell of the beautiful flowers was a real treat.  There was also a hot tub which was lovely to relax in after the days visiting and the perfume of the roses nearby added to the experience. The location was excellent just upon from the seaside , which we both love to visit and also close to  Whakatane and other beautiful places to visit.  The Bay of Plenty is aptly named, lots of sunshine, home grown produce and places of interest to visit.  We thoroughly enjoyed breakfasting with Bev and Hilton it was good to exchange information on each of our families and lifestyles.  The home made jams, preserves, and muesli made with home grown produce an absolute joy in these times of mass produced food. Also it was great to be able to use the washing machine and get the clothes dry in the fresh air.  Thank you to Hilton who put one load out for me, so that we could get on with our day.  My husband and I loved this place it was a real treat.  We would definitely recommend Fothergills on Mimiha.
