I reached Motueka early morning like 9am++ due to the bus schedule and the check out time is 2pm, I have to wait until 2pm but the owner is kind which allow me to check in early but subject to the room availability. The owner briefed and brought me to my room and laundry. The location is in front of the I-SITE, walking distance within 3 minutes.

Strategic location

Motueka is a small rural/beach town. Hat Trick Lodge offers dormitory and private rooms with a brilliantly clean share kitchen and shared bathroom facilities. Graeme and Diane couldn't be more helpful and informative. I was able to do washing, prepare dinner and follow informative local tips. Everything was spotless, attractive and economical. The rooms - particularly the kitchen - were spaced far enough away from each other so the sounds of fellow guests are faint if any. You will be very comfortable here!

Clean, comfy and right across the road from Sunday market, tourist information and bus stop!

It is very basic accommodation but it is clean! Big kitchen with two balconies and BBQ area. Fresh herbs. Located in the centre of Motueka.
Can be quite hot at night without air conditioning in the rooms.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. The room and kitchen were very clean and free WiFi was offered. The Hat Trick Lodge seemed very familiar compared to lots of other New Zealand Hostels. The owner really took care of his guests.

Had a great stay

We were warmly received and shown everything. The room and the bathroom were clean and neatly large. The building is bright, but from 10 as required by the house rules, there was not much to hear. The location is good to explore the Abel Tasman NP. We had our own car, so it was very easy to get to the water taxis from Kaiteriteri. But I read that we also picked them up in Motueka. The kitchen is well equipped, it was also cooked a lot every night. However, there should be another refrigerator set up there, which is almost above the existing food sources, which is probably at the many long-term street. The supply boxes were only limited, we also had storage bags in our room. We would find everything well-stocked and then we would come back to the room.

Solid housing

Pre-booked during a local cycle trip. Awesome place, roomy, clean, friendly, great reception, and so convenient to everything local.  Such a great find at minimal cost and an good location. Will certainly be back..

Impressed

We chose this lodge with a private room and bathroom, a central area in front of the tourist agency where you can book trips to the Abel Tasman. It has a large kitchen where nothing is missing, very organized.

Lodge hostel

The kitchen was, i.e., there was enough parking space, and there were plenty of dining options nearby.

We stayed here while commuting to Abel Tasman Park for a few days. Graham and Diane couldn’t have been more helpful with things to see and places to go for food etc. Spacious rooms, clean living area and good location if you’re driving to and from the park.

So friendly and helpful

I wasn't sure how I would feel being by myself in a backpackers, but this place has a beat of both worlds and I had a room with my own ensuite.  Friendly staff made my stay nice and simple and cheap.   Clean and tidy.  A bit of noise through the floor from upstairs at times, but nothing to ruin my stay.
