Holland House is a beautiful old house, lovingly restored and furnished by its owners. John and Nigel really understand hospitality and deliver on everything that is important - the bed was very comfortable, the shower was hot, the rooms were warm, and the breakfasts were excellent with much choice and conviviality. I am so pleased that I can look forward to staying again later in the year. As an older woman now travelling by herself I have had one of the best stays ever - far from a universal experience!

We had a lovely night's stay at Holland House. The room was very comfortable, and the furnishings were very appropriate for the building and a lovely touch.

Nigel was very welcoming; and he cooks a really good breakfast!

Completely enjoyed our stay in this lovely historic property in Nelson. One of New Zealand’s original colonial homes. Very well appointed. Comfy bed. John and Nigel were great hosts. Excellent breakfast.

Excellent stay!

I'm a bit late in posting this, as my husband and I stayed at Holland House twice in February 2019.  It was a wonderful experience, and we were very pleased to return after our first visit.  Our hosts, John & Nigel, could not have been more welcoming, and the B&B itself is so charming.  We stayed in different rooms each time, and both were very comfortable -- quite spacious rooms with lovely furnishings.  Also, the lounge area for guests was very much appreciated.  It is a peaceful oasis with beautiful gardens and outdoor seating areas.  We would definitely stay there again!

Wonderful experience

Lovely hosts, the room was gorgeous, such a comfy bed and attached lounge with leather suite, polished floors and just beautiful.  Hosts were ever so friendly and accommodating.  Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay again!  Hosts offered to drive me to where I was delivering training the next morning, but I already had a rental car.

An absolutely wonderful weekend spent at Holland House. Extremely comfortable, peaceful and charming.  Very gracious hosts with some fine cooking skills! Will certainly be visiting again, couldn't recommend more!

Couldn’t have asked for a more delightful stay- the hosts were amazing with their hospitality and wealth of knowledge of the area, the breakfasts were delicious and the house was charming with its interesting history and brimming with curios.  

The Holland House is located in a quiet and lovely neighbourhood, perfect for relaxing walks/runs and just a few minutes from downtown Nelson- make sure to check out the markets! 

The rooms are well-equipped, and the water pressure is great (nice, hot showers were a treat after long hikes in the Abel Tasman/area). 

 Looking forward to staying here again if we’re lucky enough to visit Nelson in the near future.

Perfect Getaway!

Other reviews already said it, but the pictures do not do this B&B justice. The house is beautiful, and very spacious. At the end of every day, it was great to come home to a super-comfortable, welcoming lounge, and great bedroom. The hosts had the fridge stocked with beer, wine and an assortment of beverages for purchase, which was a lovely surprise. I can’t tell you how many times we arrived at a hotel parched and in need of some kind of beverage. They thought of everything, including Nespresso coffee.As for breakfast, we had both the hot and cold and were delighted with the variety and quality. Nigel and John really are suited to this as they were spectacular hosts. They were there to give us advice, and direct us to activities. Nigel is a budding chef, with a desire to cook amazing breakfasts...and amazing they were. John is a beer enthusiast, and can direct you to the best breweries and wine tastings. I think if you want, you can book John for a wine and beer tour. Trust me when I say he really knows his beers! Staying here was a great decision as it really is an oasis to return to at the end of the day, and a great place to wake up and start our day. You really must stay here.

Amazing find-gorgeous B&B

We (four friends) stayed at Holland House for three nights and our hosts, Nigel and John, were very hospitable, friendly and helpful throughout our stay.  On arrival we were warmly welcomed to their beautiful house with a lovely afternoon tea.  They offered us suggestions for places to visit, etc and also gave us privacy.    Breakfasts were amazing in terms of the variety, quality, quantity and presentation. The restored house is located in an extremely quiet location on the outskirts of Nelson.  It is very comfortable (including the beds), spotlessly clean and tidy, and furnished with lovely antiques.  The spacious, well maintained gardens with water features are tranquil and relaxing.  The host's dog, Jessie, was also a big hit with our group.  Finally, Nigel and John discovered it was my birthday and opened up a bottle of bubbles to celebrate.   Thank you Nigel and John, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Holland House and highly recommend it to other travellers.
