The Cottage at Awatea Tasman Bay was exactly what we needed - a quiet, comfortable, relaxing haven, close enough to the fun stuff on the Tasman coast.

The hosts, Scott and John, and friendly and welcoming and have excellent intuition for what makes a good holiday great. Their dog, Molly, is friendly but unintrusive - ideal if you like doggy cuddles and ideal if you don’t.

The elevated view is spectacular and the grounds are completely private. A little slice of heaven away from it all. Motueka and Kaiteriteri are a short drive away, about 10 mins and 20 mins respectively.

Secluded getaway

We stayed for 2 nights in the cottage with an excellent view and very warm hospitallity from John and Scott. The breakfasts were very good and the hosts were extremely helpfull in giving tipsfor daytrips. 
It is a great pleasure to stay there, thank you John and Scott.

Excellent B&B

Having struggled to find the place initially, largely down to the ‘faulty’ sat nav - nothing to do with me 😆- we located the car park area up a very steep driveway.

We were welcomed by our hosts, John and Scott who duly showed us into our domain; an upscale wooden chalet, away from the main house, with high end features and a wonderful view from the balcony. The obviously spent an age deciding on the fixtures and fittings but it was certainly worth the effort. Nothing was left to chance, including a small bag of sweets left for our enjoyment! Yummo 

Our stay was very relaxing, the gardens are available for guests and the views are worth visiting for alone.

Breakfast was served in the main house, together with John and Scott, although it wasn’t intrusive (as can be sometimes with BnB) nor awkward such was the skill and gentrified nature of the hosts. 

The offerings were plentiful, freshly made on site and wonderfully delicious.

Hats off to Scott and John, who gave us a memorable experience in their exceptional lodge. 

Delightful Bed and Breakfast 

The highlight of my trip to the North and South islands of New Zealand. This was my Second visit to the property for good reason. John and Scott provide an exceptional luxury boutique lodging experience. The hospitality, cleanliness, and attention to detail is perfect. The views and serenity you get here are amazing. Yet, it is a very short easy drive to Abel Tasman National park or Motueka. I shared many delicious meals with the owners and the conversation was always high spirited. I may have been One of the last guests of the season and enjoyed some beautiful fall weather without any insects.  I would highly recommend this property and that you make reservations early as they may sell out quickly.

Crown Jewel of New Zealand

Stayed in the cottage and the views were simply stunning. We cooked every night just so we could enjoy being in such a unique location. 

Hosts very friendly. Cottage very well equipped. Would recommend without hesitation. 

Perfect location for exploring the Abel Tasman National Park. 

Beautiful Views

Such a beautiful house! We felt very privileged to stay with Scott and John, who made us feel very welcome. We had very tasty breakfasts with them, great chats about the area and what to do as well as where to eat. They really looked after us and were so kind with the laundry. A definite must if you visit this area! 

Heaven

The only downside I can think of for a stay at this property is that you are a drive out of town to get to restaurants etc. Other than that I can't think of anything that I would criticise, we stayed in the bungalow/lodge and found it well appointed and very comfortable with a view to die for especially at sunset. We found it a beautiful place to unwind and relax in the evening after we had returned from exploring the area. John and Scott were great hosts and we enjoyed their company. Hopefully one day we will be able to return.

Lovely stay in a beautiful property

So thoroughly enjoyed our stay three years ago, we came back for another five night stop.  Fabulous panoramic views over theMotueka river to the Tasman Sea. Stayed in the Cottage, private, spacious, heating or air con, luxury fittings, every need catered for, John and Scott are exceptional hosts. All surrounded by lovingly tended gardens which have grown some.
Lots to do in the area -Abel Tasman boat rides and walks, excellent vineyard lunches, fishing in the river - but watch out if a fur seal gets there first!
