Lovely location, Can watch the sun coming up over Waiheke island from my open tent flap! This is a really good small campground with old school care provided

Kitchen has dishwash liquid and scrubbers, sponges, hand towels, laundry had iron and ironing board 
2 x washing lines with pegs,

An upgrade is planned in April. I hope they retain the old school stainless steel sink benches and the gorgeous 1960s hand rails - made from scaffolding! Be cool to re-use!

Old school campground with a caring feel.

Dreadfully cramped scruffy camp site. Looks as though any kind of maintenance is avoided. We had number two pitch and it was just way way to small for our van. As it was on a bend with cars coming and going all day you’re constantly worrying. The women in charged said she would put cones out after she’s agreed where we should park. She didn’t….so I just moved our van into 2 spots and hoped no one else wanted to park there. You are also right next to a busy path with zero room to sit out. Dogs defecating there right by you. Takapuna is a lovely place but this camp site really needs a shake up. It’s so water logged, muddy and generally in a very poor state. I found the women in charge very curt and “off” very unhelpful..

We travel to Auckland every other month, but we won’t be staying here again….in fact it’s as bad as it’s ever got in Auckland..

Spaces way to small, mud bath..

The site is too small for the number of campers/caravans in its current state. People were getting stuck in mud, and the place was just waterlogged. Admittedly, it's been a wet season, but if running a business such as this, the maintenance should be kept up to a high standard. Alas, it was the worst camping experience we have ever had.

Maintenance not good

Mud pit, unsafe, no lights around the camp, holes in the ground.  Go anywhere else until they get their act together.  You pay for the location, which is spectacular, but you get the worst camping experience in New Zealand.  It's like a rained out festival site. 

Terrible sites, unsafe

for my 2 weeks vacation in NZ which I stayed in around 8 holiday parks, this is the worst holiday park. the whole place is super run-down and driveways around the holiday park are poorly maintained. 

this holiday park does not provide individual clean water tap at each electric power point. it’s very inconvenient to have to go to designated points to  get clean water.

i strongly discourage staying in this old, poorly- maintained holiday park.

Worst holiday park in NZ

The last night of our 2 week NZ trip before we returned our campervan. Great location and the lady who seems to run the place is nice but the facilities are utterly disgraceful,  especially considering the price charged. Not a single level site, sites are cramped and the bathrooms are terrible. Everything is old and worn out. 

Looking through previous reviews I see promises for a refurbishment going back more than two years. 
Talk is cheap apparently. This park needs to lift it's game. If it's going charge too dollar, it needs to deliver top quality.

Disgraceful 

We cannot thank the owner of this campsite enough, he turned a very stressful day into one of calm & happiness. Having been victims of a smash & grab on our motor home whilst downtown in Auckland and having had our suitcases stolen just a few hours beforehand. We limped with no window in our camper to this campsite & due to the dramas that had gone before, we arrived out of normal working hours. Luckily they had left a number to call in case of emergency which we rang and a friendly and  happy to help gentleman said he would head down to the site to see us which he did. He then booked us in to a safe pitch after taping a tarpaulin to close off the van window, keeping us safe & warm for the night.  We were up early next morning to the most beautiful view and sunrise, then after being able to take a warm shower we felt in high spirits to sort the van and continue on for our next adventures. We felt the help given to us was over & beyond expectations & we really appreciated it. 1st class service in a great location just wish we had more time to explore and sample the coffee from the cute coffee shop at the front of the campsite. A campsite that really cares for its guests

Great place to stay in the heart of Takapuna and right on the beach. It is a social spot during the day with lots of people and shops close by, but it is also very quiet and relaxing. I was lulled to sleep by the gentle swish of the ocean. They are also dog friendly, which was a wonderful bonus. We will definitely be returning!

Great place to caravan

The most beautiful caravan park I’ve had the pleasure to stay in. 
The bathrooms were immaculate with glass shower doors and handbasins in each cubicle. The concrete pads were large and each had its own picnic table on the adjacent lawn area.

Red   Beach Orewa

Spent a night here in one of the camps Portacabins to share the weekend with friends in their camper vans. They were located in magnificent waterfront sites and the porta cabins are towards the back of the site with no view but only 30 seconds walk to the beach..

Facilities are a little tired, I believe that there is a program about to start to update the bathrooms and kitchen. Not before time, but the view and position of the camp makes up for their condition.

A few minutes walk to the cafes and bars of Takapuna,

Position can not be beaten.

The female staff member of the management team was terrific to deal with.
