We spent one night here in the motel at the end of the July school holidays - we had not ever stayed here before. I was very impressed.
The room was large with a lovely vaulted ceiling, very comfortable, scrupulously clean and with all the usual amenities including a generous wifi allowance. The manager was super friendly and helpful, and gave us a voucher for 10% off the best restaurant in town. 
It’s a good location - easy walking distance to Clyde St, but just far enough from the main road to be very quiet; the trade-off for that was no views from the room. We were able to park right outside the room which is always helpful.
I thought it was good value for money and would happily stay here again. 

Review for the motel not the backpackers

Had a great stay at this place. Was surprised it was so clean and welcoming for the price. Just perfect for a solo traveller. Located in central Ohakune. Would definitely come back. Owner was welcoming and friendly.Walking distance to all the restaurants.

Stay at Ohakune-Excellent

Having booked a cabin for the weekend, I was more than pleasantly surprised that it was more like a motel room.  Serviced daily, I was certainly not expecting that.  The owners went above and beyond and made us feel so welcome.  Even Dexter, the resident cat, made a fuss of everyone.  Will certainly recommend to everyone and look forward to staying again

Hosts went out of their way to look after us in the lead up to the trip (with changing details and numbers in our group) but nothing was too much trouble.

The room was clean and tidy and comfortable it had everything i needed and i was happy to use the common room for cooking on the stove.  Its located so close to the shops which means you can simply park and walk in if you want to go to cafes, information centre etc.  I would happily return as well as recommend Ohakune Central backpackers.the managers were very friendly and a pleasure to deal with.

Clean and Cheerful

Cheap accommodation with large rooms equipped with basic electric appliance like cooking plates, toaster and teapot. Breakfast is not included but you can make any from your own supplies. Room was clean, wifi connection was fast. Receptionist was very willing and helpful.

Booked last minute to break our journey further north. Booked into the double room with own bathroom. Arrived about 830pm fairly late to check in but regardless was met with a smile from the owner. Was shown to our room where we were pleasantly surprised with. The room was more like a motel room than a backpackers. The heat was on which was welcome on a cold night. The room had coffee and tea making facilities, a fridge and Sky tv. Very unexpected.  We unpacked and then took advantage of their free spa pool just what we needed before bed. Unfortunately the bed let this place down it was probably too small for two people and a little too well used. My wife who has back problems woke up pretty sore. Overall awesome service and price. 

Expectations Exceeded

The room was very recently remodeled. Everything was new and very clean. Exceeded our expectations. Well stocked kitchen.  Location walking distance to town. Not a great neighborhood.
We would definitely return in the future.

Stayed in motel room

A really nice place to stay which isn't like other backpackers. We had a 4-bed mixed dorm and it was essentially a motel room with bunks. Plenty of room for everyone and the best part was that the room was already warmed up when we checked in.
The owner (?) was very friendly and helpful, showing us the room after checking in.
It is really close to the town center so it was easier to walk into town to find some food. 
I would happily come back here to stay since it has nice facilities (shared spa, drying room, common room) and really fantastic location.

Pre-Warmed

I'm always a little cautious staying in backpacker accommodation, but was very happy with this choice. Great for the price and location. Rooms comfortable and warm. Stayed in a 4 share and was happy about the dividing walls between the bunks that gave a bit more privacy. Would stay again and will recommend to others.
