Paihia Star Motel was one of our favorite places to stay on our recent trip to NZ. It wasn't the fanciest, but it was the one we felt the most comfortable in. The location is excellent, the propriater friendly and responsive, the rooms (we had 2 next door to each other for the 4 of us) were large, clean, comfortable,  well equipped (even with a small kitchen) and quiet and the breakfast, which was delivered to us to eat on a small table outside our room was delicious and filling. We especially appreciated the choice of meals and the delightful presentation.

One of our favorites

This is an excellent motel. The room was immaculately clean and had everything you could ever need and more for a short stay. There is even a little terrace out the front. The owners are nearby and very helpful without being intrusive and I got the impression were more than happy to help you with anything you might need during your stay.

Location is perfect. Just a 2 min stroll to the sea and 10 minutes to the town centre. Couldn't ask for more.

Great Value

We stayed at the hotel early March 2017. Highly Recommended.

Room 1 was large, clean and spacious with comfortable beds. The center of town is also only a few minutes walk away.

Also special thanks to the kind owners as they gave us a hand when I was particularly sick  when we first arrived in the area.

A small motel at the southern end of the main road in Paihia. I believe it only has three rooms. Very pleasant without being sensational. Good price for Paihia. 

Centrally located within a few minutes walk of the beach, restaurants and the town.

Others have praised the service - it was good but one of the owners was away so I am not really able to add much in this respect.

Good location & good price.

We have just returned from a 3 month trip and found Paihia Star Motel to be one of our favorite and most memorable stays.  The room was very cozy, clean and well stocked and the location was very close to everything.  What makes Paihia Star Motel so wonderful however, are the owners.  They are kind, thoughtful and very generous and we felt very welcomed and cared for while at their motel. They did everything to make our stay a very special one, for which we are very thankful. I highly recommend a stay there!

Wonderful stay, Wonderful hosts!

Stayed at the Paihia Star whilst travelling with another couple. The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious and clean, with a good bathroom and well equipped kitchen. It also had the added bonus of air conditioning which no other motels had. Would definitely stay here again.
