Avenue motel, first impression, very unassuming. We were pleasantly surprised, rooms were like tiny apartments, very clean and well stocked. Washer and dryer with detergent were available right across our room. We did our laundry at no charge.
Owner was very helpful and accommodating and lives on the premises. He let us do a late checkout. 
Great location with plenty of restaurants within walking distance as well as a large grocery store. 
 All in all, it is a good place to break your journey. Ours was midway between Napier and Wellington.


Great place place to break journey, very clean and well equipped. 

Couldn’t recommend more highly. Such a kind and pleasant owner. Exceptionally clean motel, very comfortable beds and everything one could need. Close to the city centre but quiet. Excellent parking. 
We had been let down very last minute by “The Quality Suits” in Palmerston North and found ourselves stranded (after a long flight from singapore) with no accommodation on the eve of our daughters graduation from Massey University with nowhere to stay. PN was fully booked as you would expect. This motel owner could not have been more helpful and managed to shuffle things around to fit us in. He really saved us and we went on to enjoy our special family celebration. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in PN this place and owner is gold. Thank you.

Excellent Motel easy walking into the Centre. Very Quite in Motel even though on Busy road. Reason ,  Eye clinic in front  you go passed to Motel. Never heard any noise all 3 nights there brilliant.   Separate Bedroom at the back of Unit , very comfortable Bed..
Plenty of Hot water in shower.  Free washing and drying machines.
Only criticism is the high breakfast stools. Plus cupboards top shelf with plates etc. Can Not be reach by 5’ 4“ person     Stools very difficult for me 5’ 6””

Excellent Motel would stay again.

mum, dad, Mr 6 and Mrs 4 stayed here on the weekend and it was just perfect, enough space, great water pressure and large shower, huge bed, the place was spotless and we are clean freaks, linen was lovely, and best of all it was so quiet and really dark sleeping was great. 100% recommend, thank you for having us. Just Perfect for our Family

Great welcome & shown to room. Lovely clean well maintained unit & furnishings. Neat private spa pool of our room. Full service every day and good tips on where to dine. Very handy to city centre so you can walk everywhere and very very quiet as down a driveway off the main road. Amazing value for money. I would absolutely recommend this place. I am sure it would be hard to beat.

Fabulous in every way

Great little motel tucked away just a stones throw from the city centre. Our unit was very clean, well priced and well appointed with everything you need in a motel. Everything you need is very close by: supermarket, restaurants, fast food joints and bars! The shopping mall is a 5 minute walk away so usually you'll leave your car parked at the motel! Would we stay there again, you betcha!

Great Location

Clean, quiet and very close to The Square. The unit was very well appointed, smart furnishings and plenty of power points for phone chargers and other electronic gadgets. The owners kindly let me do a load of washing and I was very grateful as laundry becomes a problem when you travel for extended spells. I  throughly recommend The Avenue .

Convenient and quiet

what an ass of an owner he would be the most arrogant rude motieller I have ever encountered and I've stay at many motels throughout New Zealand I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND AT ALL!!! He is rude and very arrogant I highly recommend you give this place a miss the Auybrn around the corner is way better great owner and similar price!

We stayed for 3 nights here while we explored the area and found the motel to be clean and well appointed. It is tucked away off-street down a driveway and even though the road was very busy, the motel was very quiet. The owners are on-site and very helpful and friendly. The laundry facilities are excellent and free which is a bonus. The only thing which I didn't like were the windows in the bathroom and toilet which had no privacy blinds. While the glass was 'patterned' once a light is on you can still see quite a bit.through it.You can tell if somebody is naked. We checked that out at night, So we did our ablutions in the dark once night fell. Just saying it would be a bonus to feel a little more private.

A Good Choice

I stayed one night in a studio unit during the week.  The unit was quiet, clean and nicely furnished.  The staff were friendly staff and the prices are reasonable.  It is also walking distance to the square and a number of restaurants.  Recommended.
