We had a wonderful stay at Sennen House and were made to feel very at home by Michelle and Stefan and Harvey the dog.  The accommodation was tasteful and suited the age of the house.  The setting in beautiful grounds was calming and peaceful.  Sennen House is close to town and so much more enjoyable than a hotel.  It was nice to feel part of a bygone era for a couple of days.    

Wonderful Sennen House 

Stayed at Sennen House for 1 night with my 2 siblings and their partners.  This amazing heritage house is also part of our family history so was a wonderful experience for us all to be able to stay in what was once our Great Grand parents home.  Michelle and Stefan are wonderful hosts who went over and beyond to make us all feel welcome and we all thoroughly enjoyed the home made cake on arrival.  Every room in this home is 5 star, they are all wonderfully furnished and bed was amazing.   The grounds in this home are beautifully kept and I strongly recommend staying at this fantastic historic home to experience a bit of Picton's history.  Thank you Michelle and Stefan

5 STAR HISTORIC HOME

We loved this grand house set in its own green haven at the foot of a gentle hillside. Our room was the Queen Charlotte studio, which had the bonus of a pretty sunlit deck where we enjoyed our afternoon tea and morning coffee. 

I was thrilled to discover that the house, which dates back to the 1880s, was originally built for an immigrant merchant from my own birth city in England! As if that weren't enough to make us feel at home, our friendly hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. We appreciated their willingness to work around our ferry and train journeys, which affected our check-in and check-out times. And being picked up and dropped off was such a luxury.

Everything about our room was high quality, tasteful and in keeping with the period charm of the house. We must also mention the gorgeous gardens and colourful plants around the decks - little touches that made all the difference.

Beautiful historic villa in a quiet haven

Wonderful stay in a perfect location during our stay in Picton! Hosts were friendly, kind and very welcoming! Enjoyed having breakfast in our room, very relaxing and not a far walk into town. Highly recommend this lovely Boutique House! 

Comfortable and lovely location

We stayed again in the Captain Cook suite at Sennen House and it was as good as ever. Wonderful view across Picton, and a great place to base yourself for a day at the wineries or a cruise on Marlborough Sound. 
Beautifully appointed facilities, great bed, comfy lounge, two bathrooms! Excellent breakfast each day. Delightful hosts can assist with anything you need to know, such as good local restaurants. We can’t speak too highly of this delightful B&B.

Unique Victorian villa with superb rooms and great surroundings.
We stayed in James Cook apartment which was incredibly roomy.
Supremely comfortable bed and all items for Breakfast were of good quality.
Best of all Michelle and Stephan were brilliant hosts.Very welcoming and helpful.
They could not have been kinder or more considerate.
Sennen House has very peaceful aura and we felt really rested after walking QC trail.
We would not hesitate to recommend this stay to our family and friends.

Memorable stay in perfect Sennen House

Sennen House is in a peaceful location surrounded by exquisite gardens. Every comfort is anticipated and the room is not a room but a small apartment. Michelle is a host extraordinaire who went above and beyond to make our stay wonderful -- she even drove us to town for dinner after we took a longer than anticipated hike. It is an easy walk to town (unless one is done in from outdoor activiities!) and we looked forward to returning to Sennen House each day. We LOVE the way breakfast was provided -- everything was in the cupboards and fridge for us to make our own meal which is genius since Picton is a  place one goes to participate in outdoor activities -- some days it is necessary to get up early to be out on the Sound or the trails -- breakfast can be made according to individual schedules.  Sennen House and Michelle are second to none!

PEACEFUL RETREAT WITH ALL THE AMENITIES

A very cool hideaway. Very private garden, very nice rooms, very nice linen & bed. Woke upto birdsong. Tui's, Bellbirds all day!, a dog called Harvey,  Lamas its just a cool place, so relaxed,  so Top end. Very good home made baking. Its a great place. Thanks to Michelle & Stephan.

Victorian hideaway.

Arrived here on a very wet evening after our ferry crossing from Wellington. Michele was there to welcome us with umbrellas at the ready. She helped us with our luggage into a charming warm room. We enjoyed exploring the room and finding all sorts of treasures including a bijou kitchen fully fitted out with everything you could require and lovely seating area set for breakfast which is included in the price. There is also a lovely appointed en-suite again with all the amenities you require. Bed was so comfortable and being a quiet location we slept well. The provisions provided for breakfast set us up beautifully for our drive to Christchurch. Would highly recommend - would have been nice to have a second night so we’ll have to come back.

Warm and welcoming

This old house has been beautifully converted into a lovely B&B. With comfy cozy beds and a nice sized room with friendly hosts all set in a gorgeous garden within walking distance to town how co  it is you go wrong?
It’s a do it yourself style breakfast with eggs in the fridge and a choice of muesli, yoghurt and fruit but with a lovely table in your room all set up it’s very pleasant.
