A fantastic old style camping ground on a beautiful remote bay yet close to Corona del town. Good value for money, kids will be easily entertained and the caravan we stayed in had a great big awning and was sufficiently roomy for five. 

Great quiet family place

Clean and tidy. Beach very close by, but it is not as perfect though. It is muddy and not suitable for swim in low tide. We came late and they still took us. Would stay there again. Friendly owner. He gave us home grown tomatos. Really tasty.

Friendly owner

We booked and prepaid a cabin for two nights here and we weren't happy with the feel of the area.  This is exactly what is promised, we just didn't feel comfortable there.  This is way off the path to everything else.  Don't expect more and don't fully expect the full views on here.  When we tried to cancel and get reimbursed for even one night we were told no, no option for a refund for even one of the two nights.  We moved on and just paid to not stay there.

Exactly what you would expect for a tourist park/mobile home park

We stayed in the two bedroom chalet. Across the road from Oamaru Bay. Stunning sunsets. Perfect location for the beach. Friendly camp hosts. The unit was basic and comfortable. The deck out front is great with the verandah providing shade to relax. The pohutukawa trees across the road on the beachfront are perfect shade. Safe bay for swimming. Handy location to Coromandel town and local bush walks.

Summer break away

We stayed in 2 of the cabins with views.  The view was excellent, cannot fault it.  The hosts were friendly and accommodating.  There was an error in our credit card transaction and with some discussion it was quickly fixed, great customer service.  We found the location great to drive around the area but if you are looking to swim and laze on the beach try the eastern beaches. We would definitely return.

A friendly caravan park with amazing views

We arrived one night after 6pm (what campground closes at 6pm by the way?) and the office was closed so we started our way into the camp to find a spot. We were planning on paying the next morning like it is possible on every campground in NZ. 
We slept in this camp the night before so we knew a little bit the place and also that it was not busy at all, like the receptionnist said. So we were hopping to find a spot, we didn´t. we went back to the entrance and found the VERY RUDE owner. He directly told us that we had nothing to do here because apparently there is a stop sign, that we didn´t see and that we should have stoped there and wait for someone, remember the office was closed. (how long should we have waited, until the next day?) 
After explaning our situation (office closed and that we didn´t see the sign) he said "I don´t want you here" Would you talk like that to possible clients??!!
Even after saying we slept there the night before he was still rude so we left. 

I can´t believe people acting like that to paying customers!!!!

For the price by the way the kitchen is really bad!!!

STOP IF YOU PLAN TO BOOK THIS

Clean and tidy but for basic accommodation, the $160 per night two guests, was completely over the top. 
Only highlight was watching dolphins playing in the bay. 
There is other accommodation nearby so another time I would check that out first.
