Apartment was double booked - had booked and paid a month in advance via Air B&B. On arrival a guest was already there and was told nothing could be done to help. Had to find hotel at 9.30pm and paid more than double cost of apartment. Received refund from Air B&B but when contacting owner for reimbursement of the difference were forced to pay for a hotel she just stopped replying. Do not book here

Double booked

During my stay at an Airbnb property in Queenstown, there was a major issue with burst water pipes that caused flooding. When I contacted the host, their employee suggested that we find our own accommodation, which was not possible due to the fully booked area. Eventually, the employee suggested an alternative property that she managed, a timeshare property that was unrelated to the host's Airbnb property.

Despite the employee informing us that staying in the timeshare property was illegal and that we did not have permission to stay there, we were left with no other option. When we informed the host that we did not stay at their property and requested not to be charged for the final night, they refused any compensation and stopped responding.

The situation escalated when the host accused me of blackmail after I threatened to inform the timeshare owner of their illegal act. The host was profiting from me staying illegally at the timeshare property, which was unrelated to their Airbnb property, and tried to use Airbnb to prevent me from exposing their wrongdoing to the timeshare owner.

I was disappointed with the host's unethical behavior and lack of responsibility to help their guests. However, after I filed a complaint with Airbnb, they responded promptly and initiated an investigation. They confirmed that there was a hosting violation and offered a partial refund.

Despite the intervention of Airbnb, the host's behavior was unacceptable, and I would caution anyone considering staying at this property. It's important to be aware of the host's unethical actions and the lack of responsibility and support they provided during my stay.

Unethical Owner who doesn't respond well to issues

We arrived to a note saying there had been a leak. There were wet towels on the floor as an attempt to dry the floor. The entire width of the room from wall to wall between the bed and the kitchen area was soaked that it immediately drenched my socks. The property expected us to stay in the room with no guarantee the leak would be fixed in coming days. They turned the water off so in order to shower or use the tap, we had to exit the room and turn some taps outside. 

As staying in a room with damp is harmful to someone's health, we needed to move. One would expect a refund as the room was far from useable. 

Since the owner was not in the country, we have only received ONE email regarding a refund. Thus was mid February. We are still yet to hear from them. 

Do not book if you value customer service if something unforeseeable happens. The whole experience has been an absolute disgrace.

Terrible booking! Upon arrival there had been a flood in our room. I understand that this was not anyones fault but the floors were soaking wet and the water had been turned off. Therefore, it was not a room we were able to stay in. The manager of the property was unable to get anyone to come and fix the leak so it was likely to be two days before it was fixed and even then the floor would still be soaking wet. We had to spend more money to stay elsewhere as the manager of the property had no alternative and could not contact the owner. I have since had one email from the owner and they are now ignoring both myself and booking.com. This is unacceptable! DO NOT STAY HERE. The photos attached show the wetness of the floor after a towel change and it had been moped up. There was a damp smell to the room and would've been unhealthy to stay there, especially for the 3 nights that we had booked!

If I could give this place minus stars, I would. They canceled my accommodation on the morning that my friends and I were due to arrive and resold it. Due to my card payment not going through properly, which they didn't tell me about. They messaged me in the middle of the night to ask whether I still wanted the booking, to then NOT wait for a reply... and message me again 20 mins later to say that they have canceled my booking and already resold the room. Leaving me with absolutely nowhere to go during Valentines weekend when queenstown accommodation is completely booked up. I've never in my life had this happen to me by any accommodation. Now we're stuck with literally no where to stay tonight. Absolutely disgusting way to treat anyone.

I wish I'd read the reviews first, as there are a few that have had this happen to them, in that this place has canceled their room on the day that they were due to arrive. 

Do yourself a favor and book a reliable place to stay, NOT this one.

Awful, awful practices

Totally unreliable and not worth the risk. After booking months in advance, and confirming our stay within the last couple of days, we have just been notified that our reservation for tonight was cancelled 3 hours before check in. We're now likely sleeping in our car tonight as there is no availability anywhere in Queenstown this weekend.

I see from other reviews that we are not the first people with this issue here! Do not book this place!!!

Awful awful, do not book

a nice lovely room to stay, great room, keeps nice and warm when the heating is on, especially when you have been outside in the lovely cold winter weather. The beds were nice and cosy, I would stay here again.

Great Place to stay

We arrived to stay a few days.  The unit was spotlessly clean, warm and very comfortable beds with crisp clean sheets.  a five minute walk into town; warm, smart TV, washing machine and everything you need for a few days stay and welcoming when you have had a busy day. Close enough to pick up a pizza or burger and it will still be warm......

best kept secret in Queenstown

Good location, close to town, and very clean and with good heating. The one downside is that the walls are too thin and you can hear your neighbours. We were in a downstairs room and were woken by the people in room above us walking around - could hear their footsteps very loudly.  Apart from this, we enjoyed it. We noted they do have recycling bins  outside (you have to clear your own rubbish) which is surprising.

Great stay!

Great location for such self catering apartment.  Within 5 mins walk to the city centre.  Spacious room with washing machine to do own laundry. Payment deducted before arrival and owner will provide instructions to retrieve the key to open the room. Have to maintain and keep the items before check out. A cleaning fee will be imposed for cleaning. Certain parking lots are difficult to park in.  If there is available street parking, it is better to park there.
