I hate writing bad reviews, but given that I hugely regret booking this motel and my concerns have not been addressed by the motel despite trying to settle them directly, I have no choice. 

I paid on arrival and was directed to my motel room. 

The motel grounds were unsightly and unkept - it looked nothing like it did on their website. I even struggle to comprehend how it can be the same place and wondered if it was being used as emergency housing. 

When I got to my room, it was unlocked (as were all windows) and I was being suspiciously watched by neighbouring residents. 

There was rubbish in the bin from the previous guest, the shower was filthy, the carpet had not been vacuumed, there was dirt and hair on the lino flooring and on the toilet cistern, the walls in the room and bathroom were soiled, there was hair (and what looked like pubic hair) on the top of the white bedding and the shower blocked after running for only a few minutes to the point of overflowing if I had not cut my shower short. 

After only showering in the room, I ended up packing my stuff, leaving the motel and finding alternative accomodation at my own cost as the office was already shut. 

On my return home I realised that I had also been overcharged - $140, instead of $130.  

I emailed the motel manager the following week explaining my concerns about the state of the room, not feeling safe, being overcharged and not staying in the room - with no reply whatsoever. 

Would NOT book this property again.

Dirty Room, Unkept Property, Overcharged and Ignored

Ramarama is centrally located if your after accommodation away from the hustle & bustle of the city, this is the place to come to, to enjoy open space & fresh clean air. Rooms are very affordable, tidy, comfy beds & great pressure on the showers. House keeping were very pleasant & accomodated to our needs. We stayed on the top floor in the back units, I would suggest that the lighting could be abit brighter to the rooms as we checked in late & couldn't navigate in the dark. The sensor light seems abit slow when reaching the stairs, this could cause a major hazard for our kaumătua. I'm not sure if directions to the rooms are given upon Checking in, but maybe a unit guide can be attached to the keys so guests can find their rooms if checking in late at night.
Would have liked to have seen some information on the Restaurant/Bar hours in the rooms, again maybe this is given at Check in during the day. We had an iron but no ironing board, made use of the Bench closest to the cupboard that the iron was in 😉
Definitely need a WiFi expander. Overall our hosts Becs & Quintin were fabulous, we throughly enjoyed our stay & have no hesitation in recommending our whănau & friends here.

Family stay

would not recommend staying here. no wifi and very dirty. cockroaches under the beds.  staff weren't very helpful and the trucks going in and out were a nuisance. overall i definitely would not recommend staying here

sports team trip

We had a night there & was glad it wasn't longer. Trying to find our unit was interesting, as no outside lights or signage for guidance. We then had no outside lighting at all to guide upstairs, etc. There were a few couples staying & we had to use the torches on our phones to walk up & down the stairs. Cleanliness of the room left a lot to be desired. Didn't touch the walls of the shower. Wouldn't recommend

Not overly clean & no outside lighting for safety

We stayed here as part of a family group booking up several rooms. The rooms were damp and the bathroom smelt so bad we purchased a candle. I considered it to be very expensive for what it was. Would not recommend. The best part was leaving.

Less than average

An expensive hell hole in a time warp to be avoided. Rooms felt dirty and way overpriced. No wifi in rooms and took ages to get any in the reception area. Full of foul mouthed truckies, f...… this and f......that constantly. Service very poor and almost resentful. Food order taken incorrectly so took an hour, but food not bad, I guess the truckies are picky.

Avoid

We booked 2 family rooms as we had a family wedding down the road. No iron or ironing board on the entire premises. Requested one and nothing turned up. Ended up buying at the warehouse.

Kept awake until 2am with noisy road workers in room above us. Apparently these road workers and truckers stay here and arrive and leave at all hours with no consideration for any other guests.

Will definitely never stay again

Fantastic spot central to everything staff are very friendly and hotel was really clean would recommend this motel and would stay here again. Special mention to WIKA who looked after us at the pool bar so friendly and also SURYA BEACH who was at the Marriott beach and kept up hydrated and cool with his water spray.👍🏻👍🏻

We didn't stay just had dinner.The 3 stars are because the food was gorgeous but we waited one and a half hours for our main course.The waitress was lovely and kept our water and drinks coming but just too long for the food.It wasn't busy and to wait so long in the bleak dining area was not great.This place has great potential for a lovely garden dining,the bar area is nice,its a truck stop so the meals are huge and great value.With some attention and a faster kitchen it would draw a wider audience.Nice but should have been great,5 stars for the meal when it did arrive.
