Very disappointed with meals and our experience. Extremely expensive for what you got. Meals were very small, the meat was chewy and dry. When talking amongst your group staff would rudly interrupt your conversations and not wait for an opening to ask you something. Will never go back here again.

Wow - What a wonderful, relaxing  stay we had.  All meals were served with a smile and the meals their self were well presented and  delicious.  Our room was comfortable, very clean and  provided us with everything we needed.  The hosts were very friendly and very informative.  Would  recommend this very clean accommodation to anybody who wants to stay in a beautiful  setting, with great hospitality. This is the place. Well done management and staff.

Accommodation that has everything.

What a find! Amazing spot in the heart of the National Park. The room was very clean and comfy. The dinner was divine - beautifully cooked food. We both had blue cod and veg which was perfectly cooked. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Great place for lunch too

We enjoyed our stay tremendously, food was excellent and the staff super friendly and  helpful.. Today was sunny with clear skies and the mountain views are amazing The package they offer is definitely value for money. Will go again soon!Thank you for the excellent service:)

Excellent Service

We had a 3 night stay, Peter and Ali were the perfect hosts.
Everything from our room, the location, the staff and the food and wine was brilliant.  Talking about the food, we sampled a variety of menu choices and all were superb.  My own favourite was the World’s best soup - Roasted Vegetable and Lamb which always simply to die for.
We cannot recommend a stay here highly enough!!

Holiday Visit

My wife and I were traveling from Auckland to Wellington by car and stayed at the Stratford Mountain House Hotel.  By the way, it's not really in Stratford. It's about 15km from Stratford. It's actually in Egmont NP...which is why we wanted to stay there.
Well anyway, our room was very nice. It is fully furnished with a refrigerator, coffee/tea service, glassware, etc. The bathroom is well done and the shower has a hand-held nozzle with plenty of water pressure.  The king-sized bed is comfortable. The room is clean, quiet and convenient to everything.
The lobby is nice and comfortable. The staff are extremely helpful and professional.
We would highly recommend the Mountain House for a stay in Egmont.

Good Choice!

OMG what an amazing place for my birthday surprise.
So the weather may have been a bit moist, who cares when you have such a beautiful calming place to warm by the fire and have a quiet drink.
Dinner was faultless. Being vegetarian narrowed our options but the Vege Curry was simply sublime.
Desert was a perfect finish to the meal leaving us satisfied and we'll nourished.
We took an overnight stay package which included breakfast which we opted for Eggs Benedict, simple but again perfectly balanced and filling.
Coffee and hot chocolate were made perfectly.
All of the staff interaction was professional but relaxed and courteous.
The room we had was comfortable, warm and the spa bath was a bonus surprise.

Well done Pete an the team. Stratford Mountain House is an all round winner for accomodation and dining.

Hidden Haven in the hills

We stayed for two nights on Labour Day weekend. It is situated on Mount Taranaki. Beautiful and peaceful environment. There are a few walking tracks nearby. Staff were kind and attentive. We stayed in the family room. Nice decor and the room was spacious. A spa bath was in the bathroom, so my little girl enjoyed her bubble bath.
We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant. Food was very delicious and well presented. We will come back to stay when we visit Taranaki next time.

Pleasant Stay!

We stayed for one night in late October 2021 and what an excellent stay it was and we're looking forward to coming back sometime early next year. We went for the dinner, bed and breakfast package.

Nice room, very friendly and welcoming staff but we have to say that the "highlight" for us was the food - dinner was exceptionally good - good choices; great quality and presentation ("largish" portions) and great value.  Breakfast was equally as good.

Excellent! We'll Be Back!

We stayed here for 2 nights, in peace and quiet, surrounded by amazing scenery. The rooms are so comfortable, warm and have everything you need. The manager, Peter & Alie are so accommodating, helpful and with great knowledge of the area. Dinners were a highlight, with great choices, great presentation and delicious food. Service was outstanding and we would highly recommend a stay here. Mt Taranaki even put on her best summer performance, so we were truly blessed. Thanks to all.
