We stayed for three nights at the Colleith Lodge during our trip to New Zealand. Helen and Wayne were the most perfect hosts and made my wife Nikki and I feel extremely welcome in what was a difficult time due to the virus. Breakfast was delicious, with a number of home grown elements from the garden. Our room was clean and spacious with stunning views of the bay area. Canapés and wine in the evening were added bonuses . . . . the wine was superb! We were both very sorry to leave this beautiful property when we moved on.

Perfect place to stay in Tairua

we had one of three rooms at this lodge. the owners really make you feel at home. the view is superb over the bay and Mount Pauanui. breakfast is simple but good. you have an outside terrace with small pool possibility.

The situation is amazing, the hosts are very welcoming and excellent company. Breakfast on the terrace was delicious. The room was beautiful and comfortable. The best accommodation in the whole of our trip.

Idyllic

Helen and Wayne, the owners of Colleith Lodge are welcoming you at arrival, and from there you can relax and enjoy the best of New Zealand hospitality. The Lodge iteself is an unique building with a location overlooking holiday homes of Tairua and with top 5*hotel standard. A delightful breakfast is served at the time you desire and the 18 o’clock canapees and wine tasting should not be missed. We are really thankful to Helen and Wayne for their hospitality and for the 3 days we stayed at Colleith Lodge.

Unique hospitality with top comfort and great location

If Colleith Lodge is within your budget we can't recommend it highly enough. Set above the estuary and beach in beautiful gardens, the position is unbeatable in terms of views.
Helen and Wayne are great hosts, with every attention paid to detail with the very high quality furnishings, and stylish works of art, craft and sculpture everywhere, 
Breakfast is taken on the terrace, or in the 'conservatory' (actually a large wooden-roofed room with huge windows), and supplemented with fruit from the garden.
There is also a pool on the terrace and jacuzzi for guests' use.
A highlight of our stay was joining our hosts for evening conversation with canapes and drinks (some excellent wine - thanks Wayne; and also to Helen for the thoughtful and delicious food she had prepared), after which one can go down into the village for dinner - and some interesting restaurants to choose from..
Though close to Aukland, the Coromandel Peninsular is an unspoiled area of scenic walks, interesting beaches, and delightful drives to all manner of interesting places. We just wish we could have spent a week here at the end of our epic drive up from the south.
Helen and Wayne really do welcome you into their home, and nothing is too much trouble. We hope to see you both again!

Just a great place to stay, with lovely hosts

Lovely room, stunning views towards Slipper Island, great breakfast (at the biggest table you’re ever likely to see) and the perfect location to explore the gorgeous Coromandel Peninsula.
Most importantly, Colleith Lodge has Helen and Wayne; two people who open their home to guests because they obviously enjoy doing so.
You are invited to join them for complimentary wine (carefully selected and interestingly explained) and canapes (equally carefully selected, prepared and interestingly explained) - don’t miss it, they are charming and fascinating hosts.
Helen and Wayne even got the owner of one of their favourite eateries to provide a personal taxi service to and from his restaurant.
Now that is what you call going the extra mile. A wonderful stay!

A wonderful stay.

The Colleith Lodge is absolutely superb. No doubt about it. Everything was wonderful. The owners, Helen and Wayne are a delight to meet and converse with. Their knowledge of the area is unmatched. Their hospitality is boundless. Our room was spotless. It had a splendid view. The property is back from the road and is quiet. Their recommendations of places to visit and restaurants to go to were perfect. The Colleith Lodge is without peer. We would be happy to visit again without doubt.

Superb

We stayed for 2 nights over New Year and were impressed with every element of Colleith Lodge.  The rooms are comfortable with attention to detail and a beautiful calm view.  The owners are helpful and thoughtful : they had pre-booked dinner for us in local restaurants as the town was very busy over the New Year holiday.  They also booked taxis and a tour for us at short notice.   Breakfast was delicious with home made jams and the wine and canapes at 6pm were a treat.  We sat enjoying local wine, Helens home made chutneys and cheese, chatting with Wayne and Helen and other guests.  It was so relaxing.   Thanks to Wayne and Helen for making our stay so special.

Beautiful view and excellent accommodation and service

We were made so welcome by Wayne and Helen staying at their beautiful home , in luxury bedrooms with stunning views . Breakfasts were sumptuous with most ingredients coming from the garden and a highlight was 6-7 pm each evening having convivial chats with our hosts and other guests over fine NZ wines served by Wayne and delicious canapés produced by Helen . A magical place run by special people

A magical place

At first, it's not obvious to find. Well, check out Google Map, because there's no arrowhead. The house is located in a very quiet place with a beautiful view of the coast. The rooms are very well equipped and very comfortable. Attention for Europeans, the catches in NZ are different from those in Europe, America and England. Provide the appropriate adapter (i.e. Australia). As for the hosts, they're fantastic, and they'll invite you to an appetizer every day or Mr. will be happy to let you taste a pickle, a chardonnay, a black pinot (his favorite) or a cabernet (a different white and red) with a few sofas prepared by his wife each day.
