found we were double booked but given another 2 rooms plus king size beds at no extra cost  We were in heaven.! plus electric blankets [early July]  and a heater so no need for extra blankets; my best sleep for months. total relaxation and privacy .

Absolutely brilliant

Tony's Lodge is perfectly situated near so much amazing, truly unforgettable scenery. Snow-capped mountains, steaming hot pools, and an absolutely stunning view of Lake Taupo just minutes away; I really couldn't have asked for a better place to recharge.
More than all that, though, is the Lodge itself. It's perfectly cozy inside and outside the rooms, with a lounge area ringed in comfy couches and complementary tea, coffee, and other bits. Tony even let us use his BBQ for some locally sourced lamb sausages.
Really, I can't say enough great stuff about Tony's Lodge.

The Perfect Stay in the Perfect Location with the Perfect Host

We got welcomed amazingly friendly. Tony loves what he does and try’s his best to comfort you. The bed is amazing comfortable with a heat blanket underneath... bathroom are sparkling clean. Breakfast is big and something there for everyone.... I was very happy specially with the comfort of the bed. And his Mom is very cute!!!!!

Easy to find. Very cheap. a shared bathroom but no problem as all nearby.  Pleasant walk to the nearby lake and well worth a walk along the pathway at the lake edge.  Add to the pumice pile on the beach.  Good parking, modern and clean room, better than promised breakfast, family atmosphere, free advice.  What more could anyone want!

Amazing value

Very kind host who give you all the advice you need. The house was warm and tidy you feel like at home. You can walk less than 10 minutes to see the lake taupo. 
The breakfast is include and that was perfect before a hike

Amazing host

Tony - the best host.  He will welcome you with open heart as his own family members.  He goes out of way to make you comfortable in all respect.  The lodge is located on the high way not far from Toupo Lake (about 10 minutes drive).  The beach area is behind the lodge - a few minutes walk.  The rooms are cozy, kitchen is fully equipped and clean and most importantly the breakfast is served by Tony himself as per your requirement.  The outside sitting area in the open is fantastic.  We stayed just for one night and we will definitely return.

Feel at Home

We chose this accommodation due to price and we hit the jackpot. Tony is very likeable guy willing to talk about New Zealand for hours. We really enjoyed being there accommodated.
Our room was a bit small for 4 people, bathroom was shared, wifi connection was fast and good breakfast was included.

Very good accomodation

I have booked through a famous booking service. When we arrived at Tony's place, who has been very welcoming, we did not find the place to our taste. There was jusyt one toilet for four rooms, One A/C in the corridor, with the suggestion to leave the room door open in order to get some cool air.  Therefore, we paid the whole amount and left to spend the night at another place. It's not correct to leave a complete review, since we did not spend the night.   The "funny" thing is that the review written for the booking site was judged "not abiding the site rules". I was invited to amend it, but it has disappeared and there's no way to write a new one.
Coming back to Tony's place,all the families staying there were looking quite happy.

Certainly not a lodge, but just a house. Small lounge combined dining room with open arch to owners kitchen. The smell of deep fryer filling the air. Bed size was good and bedding nice and warm. Room had hand basin but was shared toilet and bathroom. Payment was only by cash or direct debit. Nowhere close for dining. OK for back packers only wanting somewhere to sleep by not cheap.
