Stayed here in peak season, Jan 3rd so you have to expect the $320/night price tag that came with it. 
Facilities were what you would expect from any motel, the mineral spa pool was fantastic, the weather was a bit windy to swim in the lake for us, so the spa was fantastic! 

A pretty busy place, everything was clean and tidy, eccentric dinnerware bit did the job. 
Check in was easy and the owner was incredibly polite and helpful!

Almost Lakefront, great location!

Such a lovely place.  It was clean, and fit for purpose.  We were really lucky because we had unit 1 ground floor.  This room had direct access to the tepid pool on site.  It was just a short walk to the two hot tubs and a viewing platform of the lake and mountains.  Our host was extraordinary - friendly, helpful, kind and we felt more like family than customers.

A great find

Super friendly and helpful staff, extremely clean and well appointed rooms, we had the 2 bedroom and it was very spacious with a great balcony. A 180’ view of the lake 🌟🌟🌟 Thermal bath was very good, easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and cafes. Would definitely recommend 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Convenient to Taupo but not too close to town centre
Would recommend to anyone just wanting a chilled out stay in a clean friendly comfortable environment with easy access to strolling along to lake front

Jet lag recovery

Very welcoming owner, spa and warm pool available for guests. Room well appointed and immaculately clean. There are teas, coffees, chocolates and a large wall mounted t and heater. The shower room has been recently refurbished and there was plentiful hot water. The accommodation is located about 2km level walk from the centre of town which takes about 15 minutes and is opposite the lake, so well situated. The lodge is set back from the main road, so you don’t get any noise from the road. I only stayed one night but would have been happy to stay longer. 

Bed a little saggy on one side, needs replacing or turning and the kitchen tap was really noisy, otherwise, a very good nights sleep.

I’d stay here again.

My wife and I recently stayed at this property for several days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.  
We had a room with an in-room geothermal tub….it was without a doubt the best!  We enjoyed two soaks a day in the wonderful natural thermal water.  The property may be a bit older, but it very well maintained, updated, very comfortable and well-appointed. Our room included a small kitchenette with stove, microwave, small fridge, etc. Now let’s get back to the in-room spa bath.  It is very large and more than comfortable for two, and is in a separate room located at the back of the room, in a small courtyard, which keeps the room nice and cool and helps you enjoy the hot thermal water even more.  
The check-in was very easy, friendly and welcoming.  The location is great, in a quiet location only about a 5-minute drive to downtown Taupo. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Great place to stay --- Private Geothermal Pool

Beautiful hot pool. Rooms were clean, tidy and well serviced.  Beds were very comfortable and our family unit had three TV's!  Lastly, despite being on the main road, VU is very quiet and restful.  Highly recommended, will stay again.

Had a nice stay at this motel. We have always wondered about staying here because the lights always look really cool. The best part about this room was the massive private spa outside. It uses the geothermal water so is rich in minerals so good for the muscles. Enjoyed soaking in that. The room wasnt the biggest but still large enough and was a little old with some interesting design choices. The staff were lovely

Very tired but clean, old fashioned unit albeit with a hot tub. Lots of noise transfer from upstairs both plumbing and movement. Really strange layout with unusable dining room. 
No Sky TV for a 4 star rating. 
Could not view before paying because of COVID cleaning?

Very Ordinary and underwhelming

Initially looking at the photos of the place, the rooms and motel look recently renovated, and seemed well worth the cost. However, upon arriving, 1st impressions were, "this isnt what the photos show"; "little bit of false advertising going on here". However, not one to judge a book by its cover and to give everything a chance, the hope was that the room would be as good as the website showed and stated.

Well, long story short, it wasn't. Not just the motel but the room itself. 

The motel looks dated and very cheaply built. Even the workmen ship looks cheap too, including the products used. The paint, the carpet on the stairs and patio, hell, even the card readers on the doors; it all looks like it was brought at the $2 shop. 

Then the room itself. 

Um, put it this way, the floor tiles on the kitchen and bathroom floors and the tv were the only new/recent things in the entire room. 

Only mentioning 3 things:
1: a massive Bench oven,that belongs in the 70's, instead of a microwave, which is found in any other motel.
2: the so called "2 in 1 shampoo/ body wash". Ya felt more dirtier/grubbier after using that, compared to before hopping in. 
WAY Better off buying/providing both your own, AND ACTUAL, shampoo and soap. 
3: unless you're wearing very dark sunglasses, dont bother turning on the light in the shape of a balloon/lantern. Its brighter than the brightness of burning magnesium. 

( plus: 
- the bed was very hard, 
- no sky tv + not all freeview channels work either, 
- the a.c unit is in the wrong place; pointless only cooling/heating a smidge of the room, instead of the whole room,
- only one power socket on one side of the bed; no option of extension lead either,
- buy own milk, unless you feel like using 6 sample sized tubs for your coffee.
- hope everyone parks straight and proper in car parks, otherwise, good luck; it's not the best.

In a nutshell, if your happy to stay and pay at a motel that is not only falsely advertised and way over priced, but was designed and built for extremely cheap, including the "Far East" interior design, and b.y.o is better than what's provided, then by all means, stay here. 

Oh, and the lake is best viewed from the downstairs, outside and uncovered deck. Lovely views of the road from your room.
