Very handy location to where we needed to be.  Shopping centre just down the road which had option of take aways as well as a supermarket.

Clean and tidy rooms though bit of a mix up when we arrived as we were supposed to have a 2 bedroom apartment but were given a one but the lady at reception happily moved us with no issues.  Very friendly and helpful.

Nice hot pool to have a soak in before bed.

Would stay again when in the area.

I booked the night before for $120, this was for a studio unit. 

It was quiet, clean and comfortable. Nothing to fancy. The Sky TV was nice.
The shower gave good hot water pressure and there was plenty of towels.

I didn't use the spa, as it was too hott.

Will be back if I need it.

Tired old motel. Furniture and carpet was covered in stains. Checked in, but checked out again a few mins later. Was charged for two day stay despite the condition of the unit. Very basic set up. Disappointing stay.

Basic unit which could  do with a refurbish.
Unit was Clean and bed was comfortable but pillows were a bit lumpy. There was quite a good heater which warmed the unit well.
Quiet  location away from the main road.

We stayed here recently for two nights to attend a funeral.it was a last minute booking and many other places were fully booked so we were relieved when we could book here.
The outside of Motel has been freshly painted and decorated with completely new roofing and pleasant grounds .....however we were disappointed at the inside .....It is clearly in need of renovation including painting and new cArpet.we think that probBly this is a work in progress with renovation being done over time.
On the positive side it is a quiet area and the bed was extremely comfortable.......the unit was clean and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful

Disappointing

I would not go back to this motel. There were cockroaches on the curtains, the bathroom windows were stuck and couldn't be closed (you wouldn't want to close them anyway because there's no fan for the steam - in the case you could manage to get hot water), the pool was just lukewarm, so no good on a cold day, and I found an used sanitary pad in the bottom draw in the bathroom when I was looking for the hairdrier that they don't have. Just gross! The bed was nice.

who gave us exceptional service. lovely quiet motel, very clean. Would recommend it to anybody.

18th. Avenue Motel

I booked this motel and encouraged my sister and her husband to also stay as we had a wedding in the area. 

I was very embarrassed. At best this hotel is 2 stars not 3.5.

It is very old and dated and built from the materials old beach houses used to be made from - the internal walls are not plaster but sheet.

There is also no air conditioning!! It was hot despite all the windows being open.

The staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Spent 3 nights here and my daughter and I were really happy with the service we received. The staff were always friendly and willing to help with any queries etc. Yes the motel is a little out dated, but everything was nice and clean and I felt that our studio unit was really good value for what we paid. Our unit didn't have air con so did get muggy on a summer's night, however we then found a fan in the cupboard so just improvised and used that and kept our unit doors open to keep cool. The studio unit we stayed in had a queen or king size bed and a single bed, also had parking right outside our unit. Didn't get to have a soak in the hot mineral pool as it would of been too hot on the perfect summer days we had while there,but would definetely go back in winter to stay and experience the hot pool.

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed in this Motel and it is the sort of place you can't just recommend out right, but you can see it will be fine in some situations. The motel is dated, but not dilapidated. The pool seemed underwhelming until we got into it, then we found it nice and really enjoyed it. You get quite a lot for your money at this property and that might attract people.  Their are somethings to be aware of, Tauranga is quite hot and humid during the summer and  accommodation with heat pumps or air conditioning would have suited us more. We also found that their was not a lot of sound proofing, so getting an end unit would be best. The owners I think will need to make some improvements to survive.. but its at the moment. Keep an eye on future reviews to make sure it stays good.

Sort of place you need to make sure meets your Needs, but will be fine if it does.
