We stayed in a private double room with shower/bathroom. The place is nice, location good and good facilities. The reception is really helpfull. Storage for backpacks. The shops are just around the corner and busses are only a few hundred meters away.

Good

We ordered a room for 2 nights and called the receptionist to say we need a late checking. The lady said there will be no worries, someone will open the door for us and we just needed to call back the same number.
At 10:30pm we are calling that number because we arrived, surprise, phone didn’t even ring. We had to wait for 2hours outside. 
Nobody apologized. 
After the second night the checkout was at 10am, at 10:10am we were about to leave at the staff pushed us out. 

Even for a backpacker, the guest is supposed to be respected. 
THANK YOU for the worst customer service I ever had. 

Very disappointed 

I really enjoyed the community spirit in this hostel, it´s one of the best I had in New Zealand. It´s perfect for solo travelers to make friends because the kitchen is close to the balcony and living area therefore it´s easy to start a chat. Location is very central. In summer you can just cross the street and jump into the water. 

Nice atmosphere

Beautiful place in the waterfront of Tauranga. Receptionist and cleaning staff are very nice and open with everyone. The terrace is amazing to watch the sunrise!!! Around the hostel is full of restaurants and pubs. Don't lose the opportunity to stay here!!

A place can call home

One of the best place to stay in tauranga !Good team! Good vibes! I really enjoyed my stay at harbourside! There is a big kitchen with nice living room!! Good location with sea view! bars and restaurants are close !! i recommend that place !!😊



Really good hostel !!

With their amazing amazing staff there to make your stay the best it can be and a beautiful location there is no reason not to chose harbourside for your next hostel stay, situated close to all amenities, restaurants and bars it is the best choice you could make. you may wish to visit the mount for night life, in which case the main bus stop is within a 1 minute walking distance!! The view from the balcony is something you just won't get used too, watching the boats sail and birds fly while tucking into a breakfast you made in their sparkly clean kitchen is a blessing you never knew you needed. Regarding work, they will do their damn best to help you out. All in all, harbourside is the place to be for a stay in Tauranga.

If God was a hostel she would be harbourside city backpackers

I had an open mic session at the hostel and it was memorable! All the crew and guests were nice! Good atmosphere to be in, especially at the balcony that faces the harbour and sunsets. Definitely recommend it!

Best atmosphere

Harbourside is such a great hostel! Seriously one of the best I've stayed in, in NZ (and I have stayed in a lot lol).
It's in a great location, right in the center of town!..Just a few seconds walk to some amazing cafes/restaurants. 
I stayed there for over 3 months and during that time I stayed in 3 or 4 different rooms and all were really comfy and clean.
The kitchen and living area were great. The staff were all super friendly and I met some amazing people whilst living there. Defo recommend it if you want to find some work, they are really helpful in trying to help people find jobs.
Also you can see some really beautiful sunrises from the balcony in the morning! :D
Theres heaps to do in the area and there's always something happening in the hostel.
OH and the Wi-Fi actually works!!! :)

One of the best hostels I have stayed in, in NZ!

Very nice place. The crew is very helpful and kind, and so are the guests. It creates a good atmosphere. Good location, in front to the beach and with some restaurant/bars around. Clean installations. Overall, a good experience. 

Cool place

First of all: THANK YOU, Erwin. I forgot my jacket and didn't realize until I was on the bus away from Tauranga. He personally got it from my room and sent it to my upcoming hostel in Auckland. That's some real good customer service, helping me figure out how to solve the problem. On top of that: Very clean hostel with an older vibe to it, so cosy. Perfect location when arriving/leaving with Intercity, right by the waterfront. The terrace upstairs is amazing. Only thing I got to remark on is my room being a bit small for 6 beds. But the customer service was perfect!
