I stayed two non consecutive nights at this place. I have to say, I won't be staying there again. I'm not usually one to give negativd feedback, but  Ieft this camp feeling really angry.

I could've tolerated all the demanding notes stuck about the camp telling you not to do this, and not to do that, but what tipped me to write this review was the treatment I received from the receptionist upon leaving. I had misplaced the key to my cabin. I did a thorough sift through all my belongings, and it was nowhere to be seen, so thought the decent thing would be to tell the office I'd lost the key, before leaving.

I was gobsmacked with the receptionist's response : " You can't leave until you find the key!" I think she took me for a fool, and thought she'd enjoy a bit of bullying sport with me. I stared at her in disbelief and anger, and managed to say that I had to leave now, and asked if there a fee I could pay to replace the key? Only  after my asking did she concur I could pay a fee for the lost key ($35.00) . Also I couldn't help suspecting that staff had likely found the key in the grounds, as it definately wasn't amount my belongings.
The receptionist went in to explain that people usually find their camp room keys mixed in with their belongings when they get home. Not sure how she would know that. I know I wouldn't be phoning the camp back to tell them I'd found the key, after shelling out $35.00 for a replacement. (Mine never turned up at home).  They also have a $25.00 late check out fee which they warn you of on a prominent notice in your cabin. 

There were some nice, I assume long term ( and I would say long suffering) residents staying at the camp. I would suggest this holiday park puts a lot more effort into decent customer service, rather than the punitive, authoritarian approach they use. No one wants that sort of atmosphere, especially on holiday.

Motor Camp or Boot camp?

Fantastic spot. Lovely people and really well looked after motel unit and grounds. Really nice and quiet and very comfortable and clean accommodation. Our kids enjoyed the hot food truck out front and the spacious lounge and TV room. Easy walk to the local reserve and onto the sand dunes as well. Will definitely be back!

Really nice place to stay

Recently spent two nights here with caravan. Well set out, clean & tidy amenities & surroundings: rubbish bins well placed. Very well equipped kitchen, great showers. Staff friendly & helpful. Comprehensive, but not 'over-the-top' camp rules to ensure a pleasant stay for everyone. (Make sure to visit the Cobourn Reserve).

Probably the quietest time to come, because it’s the middle of winter, but if you need serious down time this is the place to be.
Will continue to tautoko and support this wonderful place with family and friends.

Lovely staff, great set up. Immaculately presented. Nice and handy to beach. Very comfortable bed and nice a quiet. Surrounded with only the sounds of nature. All facilities in good condition and very clean and well stocked.  Can’t fault at all and will definitely return.

A quiet getaway

Visited for just one night on a camper van tour. Very clean and tidy, very friendly and helpful staff.  Quite small site but close to amenities. Lovely area to visit and beach was great, Very enjoyable stay and would definitely come back..

Clean park, friendly staff

This a very good park to stay at, facilities, service and location are excelent.

Down side: The park is bordered by a very noisy nieghbourhood, there are lots of barking, howling dogs, loud doof doof music and building construction till late at night. 
There is also a house on the southern hill above the camp, where drunk people gather on the weekends, play loud music, yell, shout and sing out of tune. Because they have the high ground the camp is forced to listen to this cocophany until very late at night.
 Men @ this house stand on the hills edge with their penis' out, to urinate in full view of the camp. 
Some of the permanant residents in the camp play loud music and allow their dogs to continually bark for hours until late at night.

If you want peace & quiet for your holiday, go somewhere else for you will find none at the Port Waikato Holiday Park.

Great park, noisy nieghborhood.

A family of 5 had a 2night stay (Waitangi Weekend) in a TIDY 2 bedroom motel, everything you needed was in this unit.  Yasss!  Plenty of space for a family of 5, you have a double bed in Room 1 and 4 single bunks in Room 2.  We also had a fold-out single bed in the living room.
If you have young children, hire the trike - It's a neat way to get them to explore the holiday park to meet and make new friends around the campsite.
Well maintained holiday park, and very peaceful.  Short drive to Sunset Beach and the Maraetai Beach reserve (Sand dunes).  
Awesome food truck just a drive down the road, however, our holiday was ruined by the 1-hour bad service from Sunset Takeaways food truck, situated at the entrance of the holiday park, and NEVER AGAIN will I spend my money here.  (Bad service, no apology just a smart remark from the owner).

Peaceful haven away from the big smoke

My partner and I stayed in a self-contained motel unit for three nights. The unit was clean and had everyhing we needed (great shower!). The camp is a traditional New Zealand camp ground with everything you would expect, toilet/shower block, kitchen, laundry and TV lounge. A bit dated but well looked after. It was quiet and laid back with not too many people staying. There are some permanent residents on site which I think helps keep the place quiet. The main beach is a short 10min walk away and there are lots of places to wander around including the sand dunes. One word of warning: the local dairy is not well stocked so take everything you need! Over all Port Waikato Holiday Park is a relaxing, quiet place to stay with helpful friendly staff. 

Relaxing and enjoyable stay

We found this motor camp by accident stayed two nights it is so peaceful grounds were excellent facilities were dated but clean lots of permanent campers here just a nice place to stay a little out of the way but well worth staying
