Very lovely and warming place to stay very clean and the host were very welcoming and lovely couldn't ask for better people and of course there dog Archie was very cute and welcoming to. Love the location, would stay again had everything you needed in the cottage. Thank you again for the stay. From the Moore family

New year holiday

We were warmly greeted by hosts Margaret & Peter. As dog lovers, we were glad to meet "Archie" as well. They showed us around the cottage that had a well-appointed kitchen, complete with any cooking or baking equipment one might need; a bathroom with heated floors and a washer and dryer; living room with cozy wood stove, TV and DVD player; and an outdoor barbecue. As birders, we enjoyed seeing Song Thrushes, Greenfinches, and Blackbirds on the lawn. Very restful and comfortable, particularly on the cool and windy days we stayed. Thank you!

Very comfortable & well-appointed

The cottage is very spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you could expect from a holiday home. We especially enjoyed the patio from which you can watch the sunset. Margaret and Peter are very friendly hosts with whom we had a nice chat. We were sad that we could stay for only one night!

Spacious and comfortable Cottage, friendly hosts

Warm welcome from Margaret and Peter as they returned from purchasing a brand new BBQ for the cottage. (I couldn't see anything wrong with the older one.) We christened the new BBQ that very same evening and it is very fine indeed. Well equipped kitchen, spacious bedrooms and living area. We made use of the washing machine and the clothes dried to perfection outside. The cottage is in the grounds of their home but quite a distance away. Short drive brings you into Twizel with cafes, supermarkets and bars. For us it was a perfect base for exploring Mount Cook, we were sad to leave after only 2 nights. Would stay again because of the location.

Excellent location for visiting Mount Cook

A cute little cottage at the front of the owners house, far enough away for yr privacy. The hosts Peter and Margaret and very warm welcoming people. There was a board out the front of our cottage with a personal welcome to us- a lovely touch. They had the fire going when we arrived, which was great as it was a very cold night. The bedrooms were large enough and comfortable beds. Would probably suit a family more then two couples as there is only one queen and two single beds.( not that it bothered us). Also only one bathroom with the toilet and shower together is a bit of a no no for me. I would still highly recommend Gladstone cottages for a comfortable stay in a lovely part of New Zealand. 

Lovely cottage, great hosts

The hosts (the cottage is on their property), Peter and Margaret, were mot friendly and helpful, The location was very pleasant, away from the hustle and bustle of town. The cottage is quite roomy, with a comfortable living area and TV. The kitchen was well equipped and even had a dishwasher and decent-sized freezer in the refrigerator, The washing machine was very handy, although it would had been nice to have a dryer so that clothes didn't need to be hung outside or on a drying rack (although the drying rack worked OK for the few items we washed). It is very easy to unload luggage from the immediately adjacent parking area.

A dryer would be good. And screens on the windows (albeit very uncommon in New Zealand) might be helpful to keep out the inevitable insects that come in at night when the lights are on and the windows are open to cool the cottage down.

Very comfortable and pleasant cottage

My wife and I stayed one night enroute from Te Anau to Christchurch. The cottage is at the front of the owners property but quite separate and private. Its got a full kitchen (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine etc) so you could easily use it as a base for an extended stay. The lounge is large with good seating and a dining table. Heating is a cast iron fire with firewood provided and the place warmed up really well even at -2 outside.
The owners are lovely and very helpful.
Only downside (easily fixed) is there is no milk, coffee etc provided which is unusual ... although there is tea ... and no hatchet to cut kindling so getting the fire started was a bit of a struggle. There is free wifi but we couldn't get a good connection.
We'd happily stay again.

Warm and spacious, but a little out of town

We stayed here for one night when my mother was visiting NZ and this was the most amazing accommodation and certainly the best value. On arrival a chalk board welcomed us and we made ourselves at home until the owners came over and lit the fire and gave us a tour. You get a whole cottage on site which is just like home!
The day was very cloudy with a low fog that didn't clear so we didn't get out to explore the local area but certainly made the most of the cottage!
The owners are the most lovely people and their dog is a big beauty! I could have stayed forever! - Thank you so much

Heavenly Home in Twizel

This was a stop over spot on our way from the south to the north. We regret not staying longer. The Cottage was lovely. Our hosts M&P were friendly and clearly (and rightly) proud of their property. It had everything we needed to make and enjoy a nice dinner outside. There is lots to do in the area. The space was spotless. 

We would like to return. 

Lovely Spot - wish we could have stayed longer

A full house in a beautiful setting, with all the amenities of any home (dishwasher, kitchen, self-catering rooms, TV, bathroom, etc...).Outside it has a barbecue, which we use.The attention of the owners was wonderful, as we arrived early, they left us a welcome sign with directions.The village is nearby, but you need a car to get there.There is a supermarket to shop.
