Not a lot here in this very remote town. It is the gateway to Mount Cook and is a good place to stock up on provisions. Centre has a few gift and other shops and there are motels if you need to stay overnight. Wonderful scenery all around and plenty of photo opportunities

Sleepy town

Great location, within easy walking distance to shops and eateries. Nice clean, spacious rooms. But what made this place stand out for us was the care the hosts put into ensuring that our dietary needs were met with our continental breakfast.  Really kind and thoughtful people. Thank you again. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in Twizel. 

Extraordinary service!

Weirdest experience - first time ever that the proprietors were a 'no show'.  We arrived at the accommodation at 4:00pm but there was no-one at reception. We called the numbers that were noted on the door but no-one answered or responded to my messages. I had already emailed them twice in the days prior to the booking but they did not respond. We had to find last minute accommodation in this small town and most places were booked out. Worst still they charged us for the night and reversed the charge after I raised this with the booking agency. Still no apology. This is not a motel - looks like a converted house. 
Has minimal parking. 

Worst experience - they were a  'no show' - no-one at reception - did not answer calls / emails & tried to charge me.

We stayed here for 1 night. Great king bed really comfy. Loved the garden and the hosts. Great location to Twizel centre too.
Would definitely stay again. When eating out we
really enjoyed Mint Folk and Co, but Poppies is also really good.

Fabulous place to stay

We arrived at Twizel Central, after cycling from Tekapo, on the A2O trail.  This Motel is delightful, has so much character as appears to be a wing of the Motelier’s  home set in a lovely garden.  Although the owners were away, we were given a phone number to ring, to check in and locate our key.  Our every need was catered for, in this lovely homely boutique style motel.

Home away from Home

My friend and I were very impressed when we booked into this motel. The new owner went out of his way for us as we couldn't go out for a meal. Our room didn't have a kitchen but he provided us with everything we needed to make ourselves dinner. The room is so spacious and spotlessly clean.
He was just delightful. We wish him well as we can see they have made huge changes. Our room was well appointed and the bathroom was great.


New Owners

Very nice location, close to eateries.
Clean and tidy unit.
Unfortunately we received some very bad news regarding a family member and had to cut our stay short.
The young man looking after us was extremely understanding and sympathetic.
I can’t thank him enough for his kindness.
We will definitely be back to continue our fishing expedition and be staying with Twizel Central.
We highly recommend this establishment.

Fishing Holiday 

I believe there are new owners here (since September 2020?).  It now operates as a motel, rather than a B&B.
Our room and bathroom were extremely spacious and tastefully decorated.  Very comfortable bed and a great shower.
There were tea/coffee making facilites and a small fridge only.
Friendly hosts.
Nice big table outside to share with other guests, which we did over a glass of wine!
A hop, skip and a jump from the centre of town.
Would definitely recommend for a short stay or longer if you didn't require cooking facilities.

Excellent

This is a stunning little motel. Large comphy  bed, sky TV, great shower,and very clean. Close to town, with a great outdoor area, and use of the BBQ. Very friendly hosts. Will defiantly stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

Awesome Motel

We booked two rooms for four nights for clients who were here to participate  in a Landscape Photography Retreat with us based in Twizel, the heart of Mackenzie Basin near Aoraki/Mt Cook. 
The location of the accommodation is perfect, just 50 metres from our Photo Base (across the road). Theses apartments have recently been refurbished. Our clients said that the king size beds, air conditioning , quite location, friendly hosts where a great tonic after a long day of photography and learning new skills. 
Access to the centre of Twizel for restaurants and good coffee is 5 minutes walk away.
