The place is dirty, tired and most things don't work. There is no electricity after dark, which is just weird. 
It is clear the host, Scott is both over it, and a crook. 
We cancelled our stay after 2 nights, and referred to the cancellation policy for refund on his website, to which he replied: "Tough, Im just not gong to refund you" in a not just unprofessional, but nasty manner. 
He also seemed pretty delusional and raved about his religious prophetic abilities and that he was prepping for the end of the world. 
This host should be under investigation for being an intimidating fraud.

Forget it... dont stay here... dreadful host.

We had travelled all day only to be told on arrival that our room was given to someone else even though we had confirmation & an email from the host explaining what to do on arrival & we had emailed back our estimated time of arrival. The host was extremely rude & totally uncaring of our situation it was peak season we had no idea of the country & every where said fully booked. He told us to drive back to Auckland at 6.30 pm. It was a very distressful & disappointing experience. I have emailed the host with my grievances but have had no reply. If you book this accommodation & are lucky enough to not have it booked out from under you then it might be a nice place. We will never know & looking at the reviews other people had the same experience.

Very disappointed

Amazing stay and great hosts, loved the farm tour/ waterfall walk. All the animals extremely friendly. We stayed in the lodge which was clean and comfortable. It was lovely to meet the other guests A beautiful place and keen to visit again! 

Amazing 

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at Scott’s farm. We stayed at the Twinkingham cottage. The views we had of the bay and the sunset were unbeatable. The cottage was lovely; with a stove for cooking, plush sofa seats, DVDs, a fireplace for winter, thick bedding and a hot water shower. 
Around the farm you will find the animals - cows, horses, chickens, maybe sheep if you’re very lucky, and the three dogs, Coco, Shelby and Milo. Coco is great with children and loves to play fetch. Go up the hill to get a panoramic view of the sprawling estate. Go down the hill to the stream and swimming holes. 

Scott took us for a farm tour, gave us some eggs and sausages and shared with us his stories. We bought manuka honey which the farm produces and bottles, so that you can take it home. We loved the honey so much we’ve finished half a bottle within a day. 
Happy happy three days at the farm!! 

Wonderful getaway 

What a great time we had at Nightingale Falls farm! We stayed here at the end of our holiday in NZ and we both liked it best. The cottage was very comfy with a beautiful view, the farm dogs were great companions and the food and hospitality were fantastic. 

Yes it is a bit of a drive up a one lane road and another journey in a 4 wheel drive beyond the farm gate. It is a working farm  and yes it is off the grid so the power went off sometime in the night but the lights soon came back on.  If you are a boring person with no sense of adventure who has to be connected at all times then you should consider taking your boring self elsewhere but if you want a little fun and adventure with great food in great surroundings then I highly recommend it. 

A unique and delightful experience. 

This place was not as advertised.  We arrived at night to find we had to drive several kilometres up a single lane unsaved track to the farm gate and then take a 4WD up to the farm itself.

The cottage we had booked was very cold and lacked any nice touches.  Even after getting the fire going it remained cold and the power went out several times.

Our host showed up in his pyjamas around 8:30 next day and there was no sign of the breakfast we had booked although after looking in the kitchen fridge I doubt we would have eaten there anyway.

We couldn’t get back down the hill fast enough.

If you are tempted to go after read this check your hire car agreement as I am sure it wouldn’t cover driving up the track.

Cold and uncomfortable and not very accessible.

Thanks Scott and Spencer for a fantastic weekend at Nightingale Falls!  I am only sorry I could not fit Tiberius and the dogs into by suitcase .... What a place; amazing sunsets and rises, high in the hills over the Firth of Thames, friendly ranch style accommodation with stunning furniture, good food and all beautifully clean and cozy.  And, the experience; the animals, the people and the stories-just fantastic.  I will be back for more trail adventures; bringing friends! Thank-you again.  PS; is Tiberius's forelock still plaited and adorned with flowers?

The re-wilding of us.

My partner, her bridesmaids, my groomsmen and I stayed here prior too and after our wedding. It was the most amazing place to spend a few days with our nearest and dearest friends, that ensured the wedding process was a super relaxing affair. 

Not only is the farm stay literal heaven on earth but, the Host Scott is an absolute champ, ready to give advice, help out or just have a friendly chat whenever. Scott also had no problem letting and helping us bring the photographer, makeup artists and family up to the villa on the big day, and allowed us to get the most amazing wedding photos in his slice of paradise. The wedding would not have been anywhere near as great as it was without his support, he and his farm stay truly made our wedding that amazing day it was. 

A++++ will be staying here again one day I'm sure of that! Cannot recommend this enough.

Wedding Party Accommodation

Wow.... What a find this was. Whilst staying in NZ with friends, we travelled down from Auckland to visit a few local attractions. The best of the lot was the amazing accommodation and experience at the nightingale. What a drive up to the hotel entrance, and the views from there just get better and better. Never had an outdoor bath with a veiw like that in my life, and probably never will again unless I return to NZ. Scott the host is a true gentleman, he also cooks a mean breakfast! The only downside was that we couldn't stay any longer due to other commitments. Cannot recommend this enough if you like an experience!! 

Truly remarkable experience 

Inaccessible without a car but this is a hidden treasure and paradise. Huge farm and close to nature away from the bustling town. Clean and very comfortable. Hospitable host makes it a pleasant and memorable getaway.
