Fabulous place for a quieter experience by the river. Delightful managers who were very respectful & friendly. Our room was comfortable, clean & well supplied with all we needed. The Lodge is located close to the river for casual strolls at night. We loved the cool covered veranda for meals and spacious tree lined grounds. Well done Anndion

Quiet comfort by the river

Staff were lovely, but unfortunately it was not as clean  as I would have liked and unit was rather dark. In saying it was dark our unit did look out on a grassy area which gave a feeling of space. Location was fine and not very noisy considering the road was reasonably close.

A one night stay

Anndion Lodge & Motel Wanganui, starting from the website and advertising of the facility everything looks amazing, the website states “upmarket and homely environment with a pool, sauna, spa pool” now “upmarket” would be a stretch. 

This accomodation came highly recommended by friends and family who have previously stayed here. The list of issues, the spa pool is unavailable due to the owners not wishing for it to be used. The amenities in our room consisted of 1x bar of soap, the shower gel bottle was empty and the bathroom blinds covered in dust, not to mention the mould in the shower and around the basin drain. 

It became very clear very fast that the website photos vs the actual room’s are completely staged photos, June 2015 vs November 2021 are very different. Maintenance is also something that’s completely missing. 

During our stay we where advised no room service would be completed due to “shared air” and covid - 19 and if we wanted towels replaced we needed to leave them outside our room by 10am. So this happened and on our return a pile of fresh towels where left on the floor where we had walked over to leave, e.g. how clean was the floor in our doorway? 

The reception area was also not available due to covid 19 and “shared air” we where advised to wait outside and press a doorbell for service.

We have been staying at Anndion Lodge on weekends for the last 4-5 months as we have been renovating our property in Whanganui. Gary and Cath have been just awesome accommodating us. We have stayed in various rooms, apartments all perfectly equipped and spotless.  Even when they have been fully booked they managed to get a room for my husband and I.

Total Comfort

What a lovely place to stay. Something I could tell straight away is that there is a lot of pride and care taken into all aspects. Clean, great location, lovely people and would 100% stay again! Management was superb

Pride and Proud!

I paid for the booking I'm advanced so I was set. We turned up and.the manager demanded we pay the entire room fee AGAIN to cover the room. I said we are here under difficult circumstances and only had enough available funds left to get fuel and food for our stay, he said oh well you have to pay again sorry. So my partner and I chose to pay again and not eat, over sleeping in our cat as I am heavily pregnant. 
I gave him my card but his machine did not work and I had no other cards, so I was told to leave and you would refund my money at a later date. I said but if you do this we will have absolutely nowhere to stay and no money as the refund will take days. And I could go get the money out but He just said oh well and shut the door in our faces. I am VERY upset by this and now have no way to eat for our stay as we had to use our money to book a different motel. These people are awful and very rude.

Horrible people

Really enjoyed our stay .The staff were very friendly. We were shown to our room wich was on the first floor , The room was clean and and was comfy. 
Great shower , There was a little kitchen with a table and had all the equipment  , kettle , microwave, toaster etc 
If we ever go back , would definitely stay again

Great value for money, nice accomodation

Stayed here on a short break. Has good facilities. They had a few minor problems at the time, but management handled it all superbly. As far at value for money was concerned we could not fault it. The Spa was OK, the Sauna was Infrared and a bit of a let down if you like a really good sauna. There is normally a $15 surcharge not advertised/stated Agoda (a bit steep for what it is) for the Sauna. Some rooms are close to a very busy road, so check room if you have problems with noise. But I would not hesitate to stay here again and would be great with young families as close to the very popular play area on Anzac Parade.

Good Facilities and Location Right Priced

Easy to find and check into.  Staff were very friendly and accommodating.  My friend and I enjoyed our stay immensely, we were actually quite disappointed to go home.  The beds were great and the communal facilities were clean and comfortable.  Should I make a trip back to Whanganui I will most definitely going back there, maybe with more friends. The pool area was a great hangout for my friend and I spacious and very inviting!
