The room was perfect, looking out in to the estuary, which I found myself there a lot.  So beautiful. And so relaxing..
The  chalet was faultless.  Beautifully decorated,  clean and comfortable.  There was fresh fruit, provided  with a continental breakfast to enjoy before we reluctantly had to leave.  . Next time we are going to have the entire weekend.

Such a tranquil place to stay.

Attended a wedding here recently and it was perfect. Excellent outdoor space with lots of indoor options also. The weather co-operated to enable the event to be held on the grounds with the reception in the marquee space.
The hosts work particularly hard and are very friendly, accommodating and helpful.
There is plenty of on site parking and the venue can host both reception and breakfasts for the next day. It s also close to the beach. Highly recommend.

Great wedding venue

This is a very stunning location for a wedding. When we were looking for venues near Auckland to get married, we were highly recommended Tawharanui Lodge and it did not disappoint one bit. The venue was superb and perfect for us to mark our special occasion. It was such a stunning place and setting to get married. To cap it all off Karl and Jo were absolutely amazing in making this the perfect day for us, we cannot thank them enough. All the details that we wouldn’t have considered were all carefully thought of by Karl and Jo. The bubbly that was brought to our for the groomsmen and bridesmaid while we were getting ready on the day was just an example how they thought of everything. We stayed at Tawharanui Lodge the night before plus an extra night after the big day which made things so much easier for us. Just to mention, we are a couple who came all the way from the UK, so you can imagine the logistics of organising everything, but Karl and Jo made this a breeze. The rooms for the Bride and Groom were perfect, smart and beautiful. The whole venue was just perfect. One heads up though is do not rely on the Google images of the area, we saw how stunning the place is having been there. We liked the place so much we definitely will be going back there, very soon.

Stunning wedding location

I’d been to this venue quite some time ago and this time it had the “wow” factor! 
We got together at Tawharanui Lodge in December for a family get together and I could not have been more impressed. 
There was no one thing that made the visit special, it was the combined package of gorgeous grounds, stylish decor, convivial hosts, cold crisp beverages and several courses of food fit for royalty! 
That the weather played ball just topped off what was a very special day for us all. 
You won’t be disappointed if you choose to host or attend an an event at Tawharanui Lodge, not only because the owners’ have such great taste, but they have the attitude that there are no such things as problems, only solutions. 
I can see why this place is becoming a hot pick for weddings.
I can’t wait to find another excuse to go back!!



Sumptuous & Scumptious

We loved our stay at Tawharanui Lodge. As a large family group ranging in age from 8 to 94, we came close to filling the entire Lodge. The rooms were nicely appointed (big closets, ensuites, comfortable beds). The surrounding areas were perfect for strolling or just admiring the view. Jo and Karl couldn't do enough for us and did much more than could reasonably be expected. Karl took children to feed the eels, they stored chilly bins and cleaned used BBQ implements. Rooms vary a bit in size. Thank you Jo and Karl.

Beautiful setting, excellent service

Our daughters wedding was held in the beautiful grounds of Tawhananui Lodge. Karl and Jo had just taken ownership and couldn't have been more helpful and obliging with all the ideas and wishes of the couple, absolutely NOTHING was too much trouble. The food and service was outstanding, along with our accommodation in the lodge. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere only added to make everyones experience a day to remember.
If you are looking for that special, individualised service and venue then Karl and Jo are the people to talk to.

Outstanding wedding venue

We had a beautiful wedding at Tawharanui Lodge, one of the first with the new owners Karl and Jo.

They were so accomodating for all our little requests - extremely helpful with putting up decorations exactly how we wanted them (including a few unusual quirky touches), got new wifi just because we asked for it, and were around to help things run smoothly on the day.

We had a bit of a miscommunication about the bar package with the old owners, as we wanted champagne right after the ceremony which is not standard. Karl and Jo not only sorted it out, but gave us an extra half hour of drinks for free :)

The bar and wait staff were all really friendly, our guests raved about them afterwards (especially Angela behind the bar). 

A lot of our guests were late due to traffic, but the staff here were quite flexible. They were fine pushing everything back an hour, and brought out extra appetizers so the guests didn't get too hungry before a late dinner.

The room was lovely to stay in, very spacious and freshly renovated. The bride and bridesmaids had so much room to get ready. We also had a cute little private balcony out the back, which was lovely for us to sit and relax once the guests had left.

There was still renovation work going on, but it was nicely cleared up for our event. Karl and Jo worked so hard to make sure everything was polished and perfect for the day. We really appreciate how hard it must have been in the middle of all that!

Guests stayed in rooms on site, and baches up the hill, and were invited back the next morning for a lovely breakfast (even though we hardly needed any more food!)

Overall it was a perfect experience as a wedding day should be! We've made friends with Karl and Jo, who were wonderful the whole time, and even invited us back for our anniversary - can't wait to go back and see how much more beautiful it is now!

Amazing Wedding Venue and Lovely New Owners

Tawharanui Lodge was a fantastic place to stay. A beautiful location, lovely outlook, great rooms, quiet and delicious food. Jo was amazing, she responded to any questions we had before we arrived and ensured that our stay went smoothly and we had everything we needed. The rooms were a great size, lovely secluded balcony overlooking the estuary, or we could retreat to the garden where chairs were waiting to relax with a magazine and a drink. Breakfast was delicious as was the dinner we had at the Lodge. So close to Tawharanui Regional Park for walks, the beaches and not far from Auckland, I'd highly recommend it as a place to stay. Thanks for a great time.

Beautiful and relaxin

Although it was a year ago, I am still extremely upset …

We had our wedding at the lodge. The owner had met with my husband and I several times to discuss what we wanted which was lovely. We chose to pay a bit extra and get the platinum package. The venue was great unfortunately the service ruined everything. 

Our package included fresh flowers that we never saw, the food was a let-down as there were no steak knives so many people struggled to cut their steaks, the garlic bread was served still in foil, so it looked like it had just been picked up form Dominos. 

I was a very hands-on bride as I wanted things to be perfect.  When we arrived we had to remove the decorations from the previous wedding even though I had said I didn’t want to reuse them. We set the table ourselves and thankfully my bridesmaids stopped dirty table cloths and chair covers being used. We had to set our own outside chairs and they were dirty as well.

The owner had another bride and groom come to look at the venue on the morning of our wedding so obviously had her mind on things other than our wedding.

The marquee was dirty and the floor was uneven (a huge health and safety issue) my Nana and disabled uncle were very nervous about falling over, the dance floor was also coming apart and heels were constantly getting stuck.

The bar was barley stocked, it just looked like a table with a bucket of beers on it, and for our desert we were having a cake with lots of mini cookies for which I had little take away bags. I had organised for the cookies to be there before the reception started as we were cutting our cake at the beginning and I wanted to stuff some cookies in my husband’s mouth as a joke.  Unfortunately, that didn’t happen because they didn’t want to bring them out in case they got soggy!  When they did come out they were large cookies and about half the amount agreed upon and didn’t fit in the bags I had.

Another problem was that it was pouring with rain and we had been promised that if it was raining umbrellas would be provided for our guests to use.  These umbrellas were all ‘branded’ ie Bunnings etc.  Had we have known this we would have brought our own umbrellas (all matching) for our guests to use.

The accommodation was nice except for the fact that the windows were covered in cobwebs, we booked for 2 nights (the night before the wedding and our wedding night). The room was very expensive so I would have thought that housekeeping could have tidied up before the wedding night (the bridal party was advised to use this room to get ready in), but that wasn’t the case.

Some of our guests mentioned that it wasn’t very nice when the owner and her husband were arguing loudly during the night.

All in all, I was very upset at the way we were treated and don’t think it was worth the $12,000 we spent.

Terrible wedding venue

We attended a wedding here and enjoyed walking through the lovely grounds, with a stream running through it. Peaceful and tranquil. We enjoyed the food that was prepared for the wedding dinner as well. Very cosy and good service.
