Located handy to town but not easy walking distance, this is a roomy place but it is in a state of refurbishment.  There are plenty of facilities but one bathroom for a large group is a challenge.  There are a few things that don’t work that should be fixed, missing light bulbs, heated towel rail on last legs and questionably safe are a couple of things.  
The double bed is comfortable but it is only a double.
We all thought the place smelled a bit musty, possibly stale ciggie smoke but it is reasonably priced and does the job, just don’t have too high an expectation.
For a group who want to share, there is no shortage of facilities, Nespresso (bring own capsules), spa bath, BBQ and pizza oven, outdoor lpg heater etc.

Roomy but a bit rough

We had a family group stay in both the house and cottage. It suited us perfectly with a great kitchen and lots of beds to choose from. The seating was comfortable both inside and outside the house. Mike McDowell was very helpful and easy to communicate with. We highly recommend anyone staying here.

Fantastic

Owners are extremely dodgy. Charge you for unnecessary cost after you have left thru your creditcard. Asked us to wash the dishes without using dishwasher??? Poor state of the house with only two toilets

Poor service - DO NOT Use them

I stayed here with my friends last month. We came here on a friend's recommendation just to get away for the weekend. Our hosts, Shelly and Mike were very friendly and did everything to make our visit pleasant. We've gotten a 2 bedroom layout so our stay was very comfortable. Our rooms were clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you for your hospitality and see you again very soon!

Perfect Weekend Getaway

My husband and I and another couple where very unfortunate to book this accomodation from an Isite in NZ when we where traveling in Feb this year....we where booked for 4 nights (and paid). As we had arrived a day early, we rang the Manager, to ask if it was possible to book in a day earlier, he said it was No problem, as the place was empty. 
On arrival, a very unpleasant smell permeating the house, where we needed to open all windows and doors....even the many self releasing house refreshing cans could not mask it...we never did discover what that smell was!! We packed a few food stuffs in the pantry, which had squashed insects in the doors..., the kitchen floor was sticky to walk on, and the whole place felt like it could do with a good clean...as we where tired, we decided to 'overlook' this and spend the night.!! Well what a night! When I went to get into bed, it had hairs in the sheets and on the very flat and disgusting pillows....I searched for some clean sheets but nothing! So we set about turning the sheets over to then find traces of blood on the sheets....EEK...after a very uncomfortable night, where all four of us felt as if we had bugs crawling on us, we rang Mike to let him know how unacceptable this was....Mike and Shelley came down and said they would clean and change the bed!! We asked why it wasn't already done, where they blamed the cleaners and said if a bed was made when the cleaners got there then they expected that it hadn't been slept in!! That's a good policy...NOT...We then told them that we wouldn't stay another night! Mike then got quite hostile, told us that he would not be refunding our money....and then said he would wait while we packed up and left so we wouldn't steal or damage anything!!...We left, found some great accomodation further north and set about trying to get our money back, we where willing to pay for the night we stayed but not for the next 4 nights that we had booked. The Isite place we booked into wasn't able to refund it, but as we had paid with credit card, and did not receive goods and services to a satisfactory standard.....I am happy to say that we got all our money refunded!! So Mike and Shelly, clean up your act....a place and experience like this, really hurts the NZ tourists industry!! I've got to say in the 3 weeks we where travelling, this was the ONLY bad experience we had!! So peeps...if you are reading this....do not go there!!
