Stayed in a cottage for 3 nights, what a beautiful spot, lovely beach across the road and an easy walk (with a couple of uphills) to the ferry over to Whitianga. Had a look at the communal kitchens and bathrooms and they were very clean too. Would love to visit again

Beautiful spot

We found the Motel easily, was nice and quiet, clean and comfortable.  Awesome view! Not 5 star but still okay, kitchen, bathroom and laundry utilities well provided for and with nice freshly made up beds for all four of us and all linen provided.  Bed was very comfortable.  Two minute walk down to a lovely beach and a four minute walk down the other way to the ferry to Whitianga.  Great position.  We stayed when the temperature was around 30 degrees, our only complaint would be that there was no air conditioning or even a fan to cool us down so sleeping was difficult.  Would definitely stay there again when not so hot.

Lovely view and great position

Great sleep after a long day of driving. Good facilities and was very clean. Made breakfast from some stuff I found at the local store. there was more on the other side of the river but the ferry price was not worth it.

Underneath it all is a concrete block unit but nice bathroom, kitchen 
And very large bedroom 

Pleasant outlook   and only a few mins walk to ferry($6 return ) to whitianga or walk the other way to a nice organic cafe ! Makes great coffee 



3.5 star in reality !

Great views!  Very well run, and in the best location.  We had a very relaxing time.  The bed was super comfy.  The lounge a decent size and new bathroom.  We can't wait to go back.  We did miss having wifi however.

Clean, neat, comfortable

two years in a row now we have enjoyed a week at flaxmill bay motel, and both times we have been very pleased with everything about the place. the bookings, th cleanliness, the facilities, the great location! there is nothing i could find to complain about!

annual beach week

We had a friend from France visiting us in Auckland, and of course we wanted to show him Coromandel. We had chosen Flaxmill Bay Motel to stay for three night and we are happy with our choice. Neat and tidy accommodation, kitchen, BBQ, basically everything you need. Quite location, very close to a very nice beach so you can go there in a morning or at night to have very romantic experience :). You may also try fishing from the beach (we did). 
You may also go to other beaches, or to Shakespeare Cliff to see beautiful views (10 - 15 mins walk). Quite close to very nice Cooks Beach. 
Considering to come back one day if we go to Whitianga.
